So, it's nice to see the tornado watch lifted

One of the multitudinous problems with weather.com sending such frequent alert updates is you stop paying attention. "Yes, thanks, that'd be the 50th tropical wind warning today. Watch for falling trees/limbs and downed power lines and be ready for power outages. Gotcha." And then you don't scroll down to see that they added a tornado watch to it. Later, you do scroll down, and lo and behold, there was one, and it's over.

So that bit I said earlier about "just like blizzard prep except for the snow"? Yeah. Forgot about the spin-off tornadoes, which definitely happen much less with blizzards. Though it not-quite-but-almost goes without saying that it's a possibility with anything tropical, just a possibility that rarely takes shape in these parts. Closest thing was a downdraft a dozen or so years ago, which, as I understand it, is basically a sideways tornado. That's etched in memory, even though it hit several towns away.

Me: *look out office window randomly*
Me: 0.0
Me: Er, coworker-who-grew-up-in-TN-and-has-no-window, would you please come look at this sky?
CWWGUITAHNW: Why?
Me: Because I've never seen it this color before, and it looks like the way people describe twister weather.
CW: *saunters in, convinced the Yankee's seeing things*
CW: 0.0
CW: Yep, that's a twister sky. *saunters back to own office slightly less nonchalantly*
Me: Um, are we supposed to do anything?
CW: Well, there's no trains near here. So if you hear one, we should pretty much head for the basement.
Me: Okay, then. *attempts to go back to work and largely fails for the rest of the day*

Meanwhile, back to the present, the nap was lovely, but did nothing for my brain. I did manage to read some homework and do some stuff here and there. (Have the fangirl_tour tagging caught up through the end of June. Yay!) No writing though. Which is bad. Hopefully tomorrow there will be some. Or later today. Whatever.

Oh, and I watched Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Maggie Smith as a southern belle blew my freaking mind. I had no idea she was in it.
