Strange thing happened last night. Mom calls Adam and I out to talk to her for a minute. She starts into this story of how this lady she knows from school told her that they had a dream the previous night that featured Mom becoming a grandmother. After telling us this, she gives us the evil eye and asks if there's any basis for this in reality. Adam had the easy answer, saying he hasn't seen Erin in a long time, how could he. Me, I was just floored by that all, and just managed to say something about maybe this lady was confused with her own daughter (as she is supposedly a wild one, and had a kid of her own in the recent past).
I gotta get out of this place....*shakes head*
Did pick up an entertainment unit for the house Shannon and I don't own yet. Nice and solid, looks pretty good, and the best part was that it was free (gotta love family connections). Though the fun part was trying to haul the two large pieces of it back home in the Bay Grinding van, with Shannon holding it inside (as each part was too long for the cargo section). But we got it home, and we'll take it up to the shop for storage once we get the Sierra back home to truly take it around.
Found out today that I'll be doing the weekly Sudbury bit for a while longer. Nobody's sure if the person I'm filling in for will be back next week, if at all. And there's been no progress on the hiring of the extra person for the Sudbury office either (hoping for mid-December), so, I really don't have much choice but to do what I've been doing. Not that I hate helping out, but it is getting a tad tedious, and I worry here and there about getting behind in my own job. But everything's holding together so far, so all I can do is my best!
Got the first part of my retention bonus today...kinda forgot about the income tax on that...I mean, I know that the Company giveth and the Government taketh away, but my goodness, to lose nearly 40% of it to income taxes? Damn....I'm sure somebody out in Calgary is laughing at my stupidity for signing such an awful agreement....hindsight, eh?
For all the non-locals, the southbound lanes of Highway 11 were finally re-opened today, and I took a drive down there when picking up Shannon. I gotta say I'm not overly impressed by the surface work. I mean, it was rough, and bumpy, and, frankly, not that much better than what they started with (and they ripped it up and redid the entire road bed, for crying out loud. I mean, something that important, you'd think they'd get it right. And I know it can be done right, just take the resurfacing of Wasi Road out to Astorville. Now that was one sweet piece of pavement to drive on...oh baby... You would think that a major throughway like 11 could get the same treatment. Ok, end of that pointless rant....
