OH GOD. THE OLYMPIC'S OPENING CEREMONY. AHHHH!!! <3333 *fangasms*
It's everything I could've wished for, AND SO MUCH MORE. I'm bursting with pride of China and for art and for the Olympics right now, and coming from me, that's saying a LOT. I LOOOOOOOOOOOVED all the performances so much, even all the little things like always have 2,008 dancers/performances out at the same time and all the utterly breathtaking, imaginative, unique and supremely CRAZY stunts they did like the moving type keys and the giant boat.
I kind of giggled at the sheer number of people China used, but that's to be expected. China shows off its huge number of people and its ability to do AMAZING things with such a population in every major Chinese movie, and in a way, the sheer size of the population just as much of a source of pride as a lot of things are. Not that overpopulation is good, but just being able to have so many people working together in perfect time... That is damn HARD. I can't imagine getting all those tai chi masters to do all those things together even if there were just 50 of them, rather than 2,008. Dancing is hard enough with just a few people moving in sync. The sheer number of people in the Bird's Nest doing all those choreography is just mind-boggling.
And the lighting of the torch... For some reason, that just made me forget everything for just a little bit. How magestic it was to have him up there, flying in the air! ;___; It almost brought tears to my eyes.
A huge, HUGE heartfelt thank you goes out to the IOC and the Chinese government for not forgetting about Sichuan's earthquake. Not that I expected them to, but I did have a fear that everyone would forget it in this huge surge of national pride. The President thanked the international community for its help with the earthquake and that just made me melt inside. People did not forget about Sichuan, and from the bottom of my heart, I thank them for it.
AND THE LITTLE BOY BY YAO MING'S SIDE!!! Oh god, he's so famous! My mom adores that child. She saw him on TV speaking our (Sichuan) dialect and saying how he didn't think twice before helping his friends because "that was what I was supposed to do." He is fearless and I just want to scoop him up and snuggle him to death. He should continue to be worshipped as a hero for years to come. SICHUAN PRIDE FOREVER. <3 A HUGE THANK YOU FOR REMEMBERING TO THE REST OF CHINA AND THE REST OF THE WORLD. ;_;
Will be gone this weekend for the beach. <3 I'll be back to gush about all of this later.
