Well well, that day finally arrived, and how now passed. Moistly. I am back home now, of course, after being in Vancouver all day. Met up with some wonderful friends whom I had only met online before now, and I certainly expect to see them more, eventually. Sooo, my day... Got up at 7:30am to catch the 9:00 ferry to Vancouver. Upon arrival in Tsawassen, I get a phone call saying Bitsa locked his keys in the car, and would be late picking me up. That was fine, I had my laptop, my PSP and a book to pass the time. SO I waited, and they showed up, and we all piled in! Well, we still had one more person to pick up along the way, which we did, and got to the zoo at exactly 1:00pm Just barely in time to see the last 2/3 of the tiger and lion feeding, from which I got a wonderful photo (
(Tiger Hug! Kinda...) Walked around the zoo a couple times, caught the raptor flight show, which is definitely a big thing for me.
I missed the shot of a life-time by a split second.... And the owl, Hagrid, smacked my head with his(?), he was flying that clsoe and that low! It was very interesting, and I wanted to ask the falconer/falconist/trainer/handler about his job, but as usual I balked. Took another walk around, and got some more photos. At about 4:00 (I woulda stuck around for the second bird show, but folks wanted to get going and eat) we piled back into the car and drove to DQ for a snack, then the ride home!
As for photos: I put them ALL in a .rar, which can be obtained
HERE! Careful, it is 106mb's, cuz there are quite a number of photos, and all are full size and full quality. However, if you prefer, I cropped some of the images and sorted out some of the best ones. Check those out
HERE! The photos lost some quality with resizing there, though. Hence the duplicate folder, 'Fullsize,' which has all the resized images in their original glory. I am still figuring out my camera. Hence the dark/light contrast, fiddling with exposure lengths and stuff. And the stupid thing kept focusing on the chain link fences instead of the animals... Feck, I coulda had some nicer shots if there were no fences. :P Gotta work out how to use the focus on this silly thing. Oh well, live and learn! Still had a great time!
