I was bored yesterday afternoon, and Wheee (from TeamPlatypus) was also looking for something to do. She asked if I had a Joyeuse, and when I said no, she offered to help me camp it. Having nothing better to do, I accepted. We camped it for a few hours, from about 3 to 6pm, amidst other competition, but no pop showed. Later on, I left my character there to spy on the ToD, if someone else were to get it. Later at night, I was watching a NIN + RDM duo kill placeholders, and after a while, the RDM left. The NIN seemed to go AFK. On the next round of pops, Charybdis appeared! I alerted the LS, and several people offered to come help (Calekor, Ainur, Xedrik). As they were heading down, the NIN started moving again, and other people slowly showed up. My friends were on their way, but several other RDMs at the site were starting to buff up. I got antsy, and decided to claim Charby with a Bind. Unfortunately I didn't quite think through my strategy; the NM is immune to Sleep. Bind only lasted less than 30 seconds or so. I put Gravity on it, and ran out the door of the room. There was a Water Elemental right outside the room, which spooked me. An earlier encounter with a similar elemental told me they were only EP, but I decided against casting. I ran back into the room, past a raging Charby, hoping to rebind it in there... but within seconds, I was eating dirt.
A few minutes later my friends arrived, but another party had claimed it by then. ToD was 7/15 10:10pm. I left my char there to scope out the scene, since the window would reopen around 6am 7/16. Lo and behold, another Charby was killed between 7 and 8am.
(I also did another run of ENM Pulling The Strings on COR; of course, no drops. That puts me at 1/10 for COR bullets.)
Today, I decided to go and camp Cwn Cyrff again, the NM that drops a BRD-only sword (Swan Bilbo). I had camped this a few times before, requiring Xedrik and Francis' help to finish it off. In the meantime, I watched the first two episodes of Harper's Island on Netflix (recommended to me by Dasani). After about 2 hours, Cwn popped. My first attempt was a bit rough; it managed to land a powerful Curse on me while my shadows were down, but I was able to lose it by running around the loop in the dungeon. Its Bio had worn, and I was dismayed to see it regen itself fully within a matter of seconds. I was also able to recover quickly, with the help of Convert, and I went back at it. I even summoned my Level 49 Feliz (who was set to a useless Tank job). The second attempt went smoothly, but of course, my efforts yielded zero drops. As usual. /sigh At least I was able to beat it solo this time (Feliz didn't really contribute too much except for a light DoT; he never got hate). I think my success depends partly on which TP moves it decides to do.
I know it's not good, but I've got the NM itch...
