When I was little I found an LP at a library book sale by a band called The Royal Guardsman. The album was called Snoopy and His Friends. The entire A side of the album was about Snoopy's battles with the Red Baron. They even had little narrative bits between the songs as though they were news broadcasts from the Allied forces in Europe. The B side was typical 60s pop, but it was fun, and even included a couple of songs that were nods to Snoopy: It's Sopwith Camel Time and Down Behind the Lines. It wasn't in great shape when I got it, with about four places it skipped every time (even if I put a couple of pennies on the needle), but I didn't care. I loved it. I brought it to school for show and tell. I talked about it to anyone who would listen. I still remember the clear mental pictures I had of the whole story. The LP vanished in an ill-fated garage sale along with a couple of my other favorites. I don't think I was eight yet.
On a whim the other day, I checked Amazon for it -- they had it! I ordered it along with my pre-order of the next Dresden book for the free shipping. Despite the fact that the new Dresden book isn't due for weeks, Amazon decided to ship me the CD now, and I got it in only three days.
It's just as much fun as I remember (though I might be biased). Now if only I could find a copy of More Jungle Book.
