Colby walked to the door and let David in.
“So Granger, how was your trip?”
“Good.” Colby grinned. “Have a seat, I got coffee.”
“Thanks.” David sat down on the couch, still looking at the figure that had just
disappeared to the kitchen. “Did you hurt yourself or something?”
“No. Why do you ask?” Colby came back with two mugs and a coffee pot. He
placed them on the table and sat down with considerable discomfort.
“Because you walk like a patient on a geriatric ward. And you couldn’t sit
down without that grimace….”
“Yeah, it’s just…. little sore.”
“What is?”
“My….” Colby was turning red underneath his new tan.
“Ass?”
“Yep.”
“What the hell did Charlie do to you? There’s other stuff you can do on your
vacation besides sex, you know.”
“I know, and it’s not because of that. I…. burned myself in the sun.”
“How is it even possible to burn your ass in the sun?”
“Charlie likes easy access.” Colby hid his blush behind his mug. “And I
forgot to use suntan lotion.”
“Sounds painful.”
“It is. Do you have any idea what it was like in the plane back here?”
“I can imagine.” David chuckled. “So, where’s Charlie?”
“Upstairs, unpacking. You wanna talk to him?”
“I can wait. When are you coming back to work?”
“Monday. I still got all weekend to relax.”
“And sooth you ailing rear end.”
“Sinclair….”
“Fine, I wont bring your ass up again.”
“Do I wanna know what you’re talking about?” Charlie bounced down the
stairs carrying a laundry basket.
“Colby’s ass.” David grinned.
“There’s a juicy topic.” Charlie grinned just as widely.
“Can we talk about something else?” Colby grumbled.
“I got a new topic. You can take these and put them to the washer.” Charlie
handed the laundry basket to Colby. “And while you’re doing that, I’ll entertain
our guest.”
“How is that fair?” Colby asked, but took the basket anyway. “You didn’t even
allow me to wear clothes most of the time.”
“Stop whining.” Charlie grinned. “Or I’ll hide your balm.”
“What balm?”
“The one for burned skin.”
“I’m going.” Colby left in a hurry.
“You really have him well trained.” David commented.
“It’s teamwork. I do my share too.”
“If you say so….”
“Anyway, did you want to talk about something?”
“Not really. I was driving by, I just came to see if you two were back.”
“Anything happen while we were away?”
“I don’t know where to start…. First there was Don’s coming out dinner
with your father and Martin.”
“I know, I had to shut down my cell phone.”
“Did you hear about Megan?”
“What about her?”
“That e-mail guy whatever his name was….”
“Michael.”
“Yeah, he’s really gone to the extremes.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean he keeps calling her every half an hour, send her flowers and
chocolates to the office. You wouldn’t belive all the stuff the rumour mill
has come up with.”
“Isn`t that what women want? Constant attention and a lot of gifts.”
“Yeah, but it`s pretty disturbing. I would be mad about it too.”
“You think the guy could do something…. I don’t know how to say it….”
“Dangerous? I don’t think so. He`s just pathetic.”
“I guess that`s good news.”
“Well, it definitely beats the alternative.”
“Now that we`re talking about men, how`s yours?”
“Ian`s good. He`s on a job right now, he should be back pretty soon.”
“Does he call you?”
“Yeah. It`s kinda weird….”
“What is weird?”
“You know when you`re together with someone, and in the beginning you
have picture in your head about that person.”
“Yeah.”
“And then he does something you never thought he would do, and have
to change that picture in your head.”
“What did he do?”
“You`re gonna laugh….” David pulled out his cellphone and selected a text
message. “I got this last night.”
Charlie read the message and grinned. “I had no idea Edgerton could
be so mushy.”
“Me neither. But it`s kind of a nice surprise to know he misses me too.”
“This conversation is going really sappy, really fast.” Charlie grinned. “Let’s
move on to the next topic. You got any plans for the weekend?”
“No.”
“Great, we were gonna have a barbeque tomorrow. You’re coming, right?”
“Sure. Who else?”
“Dad, Don, Martin, and…. Wait a minute.”
“What?”
“I was gonna say Megan, but she doesn’t know about Don and Martin yet.”
“So what?”
“Martin is the same guy she was eying in the bar that same night that he
and Don met.”
“That`s awkward.”
“Yeah. I`ll just have to break it to her gently. And maybe Micheal won`t let
her leave their little love nest.”
“Okay, they`re in the washer.” Colby announced and walked back from
the garage. “Can I have my balm now?”
“Sure.” Charlie pulled the little jar from his pocket and tossed it over
to Colby. “You want help putting it on?”
“I`m not sure. Everytime you come close to my butt, it ends up even sorer.”
“I`m not sure sorer is a real word.”
“Anyway, you know what I mean.” Colby smirked and blushed once again.
