Lauren, hmm. She started out pretty cool. She had some of the rocker chick thing going on and I was hoping she'd be a tiny bit like Allison. Not as cool or as hardcore musically, that was obvious from the start, but... The problem with the young girls every year is that they're invariably (and interchangeably) all pagent-y types who find deep meaning in Disney soundtracks and Hannah Montana and whose ideal duet would be with Bieber or the Jo Bros or whoever. Whose basic personality is basically Disney. Allison was clearly an exception to that. And Lauren is no Allison.

I think Lauren was initially presented that way, someone who was young but less young-seeming, who could hold her own musically and who had clear ideas on the types of music she wanted to sing and had a fair amount of experience with music that predated her.

And then every week she fails to be that person more and more. She is 100% a pagent-y girl who finds inspiration singing Miley. It's not really her fault, I guess, but I feel a lot more let down by her than say, Thia and other young girls that have been on the show who have always been completely in the open about their Miley tendencies.

The bit that might be her fault, assuming I'm not making this shit up, is all the cutesy faux stuff she's doing more and more every week. "Gosh, gee, shucks, I don't even know what a non-regionalized American accent sounds like!" Hi, Kelly Pickler. And it really seems like she's intentionally holding reaction shots for way longer than the actual initial reaction until she's sure she's been caught on camera. I dunno.

She's getting old fast, is my thought. OTOH, for all that rambling, I don't feel strongly about being over her. It's Jacob and Scotty that I want off the show forever before I'd even start to think "ugh, can she be gone yet?"

Same? I'd guess not since I don't find Scotty and Lauren at all interesting enough together or individually to think of plot bunnies for. They do seem to be a decent match though (which is a pretty good indication of how much my opinion on Lauren has fallen). But James/Stefano or Casey/Haley seem to be even better. Who's fandom writing about from this season, I wonder? But not enough to go looking, heh.

Oh, this isn't a grand romance type fic. It's rough. It's mean. It's brutal. Lol. I'd love to bounce some of it off you sometime and see what you think. I have no idea who fandom is into, tbh. I should check out the comms, I guess. But the two you cited seem like safe bets.
