hale \HAYL\, adjective:
Free from disease and weakening conditions; healthy.

i once knew a boy called hale who was about two feet taller than me and took me to practically every sex shop in georgetown. does anybody know what happened to him? washington d.c. in the spring of 1998 was full of tulips and people crossing the street without regard for the walk signals. in los angeles, if you cross the street when you're not supposed to, you're likely to get run over. city or state funded flowers are practically out of the question.

in the mornings i wake up listening to the local alternative radio station. recently i have begun my day startled by the following pieces of information:
1. mike d. turned 37 on, i believe it was, thursday. meanwhile, "paul revere" has been getting daily airplay since what, 1992?
2. gwen stefani actually married gavin rossdale and is apparently no longer upset with disneyland, "the tragic kingdom," for popping popcorn or whatever it is their song says.
3. despite the fact that her very pores exude annoyance, avril lavigne is still popular.

also, perhaps four days ago j discovered a new magazine in the bookstore called "anthem" that is based out of los angeles and had planned to get in contact about a possible internship. yesterday i discovered that i am linked to the editor in chief/creative director/publisher in about a half a dozen ways, including a) his longstanding friendship/nonfriendship with my best friend, b) his european travels with another close friend, and c) our attendance at the same school (he is the sort of person that gives the man shake). in any event, the magazine is quite impressive of its own accord, and the discovery that it is run by someone my own age is simultaneously very exciting (his job is my dream job -- hallelujah, it can be done) and also making me feel like a failure at age 22. i just keep thinking: first paul frank, and now this. if i was doing enough, i could be famous by now too.
