Went mushrooming yesterday, on the edge of the Dandenongs. My Polish aunt A. decided that the season was right, and the weather gracefully obliged. We set out with a mission: if we couldn't find enough Suillus luteus, Christmas 2009 was off! Looking forward to an evening of crispy, squidgy, buttery pancake goodness.

Favourite toppings: lemon and sugar - simple, tasty. Bacon and maple syrup (with apple?) - classic Americana. Plain old butter - straight onto the plate!

Friends in Cam. have introduced me to nutella and banana. Tasty, and makes you feel about 5 yrs old. In a good way.

A few friends have told me recently that the best eating in Brick Lane isn't curry - it's bagels. I didn't realise this, but apparently, before the Bangladeshi community moved in, the area was home to a large Jewish population, remnants of which (viz., bagels), still remain. Not any kind of profound dilemma (aka "Thanksgiving = Invasion Day?"), but hey.

Need pie. Must have pie. Must somehow bake pie and transport to friend's house on Thursday without devouring said pie before arrival.

What kind of pie should I bake?

Leaning towards pumpkin at the moment, but willing to consider options. Suggestions welcome.
