Remember the girl who's arm was bitten off by the shark while surfing? Do you know what she did with the money she earned from the guest appearances she made after that happened?
She bought portable water filtration systems to be placed in impoverished African villages.
Why are there no systems like that being lowered into condensed areas in a disaster such as this? Why is that not possible?And machines that make soy milk from beans, giant juicers, I read about the UN using them.
There was a design contest at Savanaah College of Art and Design a couple of years ago that gave it's top prize to a rescue cube, of sorts, that unfolded to have floatation devices, water purifiers, and a number of other Swiss Army knife functions. Why aren't we seeing technology like this putting help where it's needed?
