Today: The dangers of glass tables.

This is a true danger - I mean, kids climb on things and traditionally, things that "shatter" are not necessarily the best for these hiking expeditions.   I am not making fun of this fact.

What I am making fun of is their presentation of the dangers of glass tables.

you know, I've never been able to see the sense in glass tables, whether they puncture lungs or not. Fingerprints, nose prints, paw prints....and yes, the urge of youngsters (and people old enough to know better!) to climb on them.

Why can't they just make the tables out of acrylic, which is twenty times more impact resistant than glass and does not shatter? Or, if that doesn't look right, they could at least use windshield glass, which is constructed to stick to a plastic film rather than falling away and shatter all at once instead of cracking in one spot. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-tempered-glass.htm

Alternatively, parents could simply refrain from purchasing glass tables. Problem solved. Lungs spared.

Incidentally, I'm glad you had a "tts" tag, as I had no idea what that meant. Upon first seeing it, I translated it as "too, too silly" then, after reading your blog, I interpreted it as "traditional true story."
