I just finished watching Slumdog Millionaire with Jason, and can say it deserves all those Oscars it won. I'm mostly desensitized to the usual gore and violence I see in media these days, but the combination of seeing the exploitation of children from a child's perspective in the movie, and the feeling in my gut that told me this was much more realistic than I ever wanted to believe, made parts of it really hard for me to watch (but impossible to turn away from). I don't want to scare people away from seeing this movie by describing it like a depressing documentary though... it is actually uplifting... I wasn't happy after seeing the movie perse, but it left me hopeful and rooting for the amazingly strong people that survive impossibly adverse circumstances. I should really leave reviews to the critics... in any case, go see this movie!

I was in French Lick, IN this weekend for Kristen and Adam's wedding... it was a touching ceremony, very beautifully orchestrated. I was glad my Dad and Maria got a chance to get away to the resort for the weekend. They left the girls with Megan to have a romantic weekend away. I was busy doing wedding stuff with the bridal party, and they were having quality alone time, so I only got to see them Sat. afternoon/evening at the reception. My bro was in attendance as well. It was so nice to enjoy a delicious dinner in a beautiful atmosphere with my family and close friends.

This Wed. I'm driving back to Etown to fill out discharge paperwork for my Papa and get the house ready for him to come home... which involves switching a door knob, a deadbolt, picking up all rugs, and finding a secure place to put medicines. My Nana and I will be bringing him home on Thursday, and I'll spend a couple of days there just making sure they will be able to function safely in the house at night and parts of the day unsupervised. My main worry is that my grandfather will fall down the stairs to the basement or the back porch in the middle of the night when my grandmother is asleep, or take pills he should be taking, or fall on his way to the bathroom. I'm putting locks on the doors to the basement and back porch, and locking up the medicines, but if he falls and can't get back up on his way to the bathroom at night, he's not going to be able to live at home. They can't afford to have someone there 24/7, so assisted living is really the only other option. We'll see how it goes... he's doing very well, so I'm optimistic that I'll be able to get him home safely and set up caretakers to come for several hours a day.

It won't be long before Jason and I pack up all our stuff and head to Lexington! I'm glad I've already boxed up most of our stuff. We took a large load to my Nana's house last Thursday on our way to Indiana, and dropped Jason's car off at Corey & Katrina's house so that when we move I can drive my car and Jason can drive the rental truck. I called the CVS down the street from our future apartment in Lexington to see if I could pick up hours there while we're in town, and it looks probable. They were looking for someone sooner, but hopefully they'll still have some open hours by the time we get there. I'm also hoping to find a PA or doctor in Lexington that would be willing to let me shadow them for a while... I'm terrified all my knowlege is going to slip away if I don't. If only I had known it would take so long for Jason to find a new job... I might have taken that job offer I had coming out of grad school. It's probably for the best that I didn't though... I had doubts about accepting the job anyway because of the physician's attitude towards patients. In any case, I'm getting impatient when it comes to putting my career on hold. Things would be sooooo much easier if Jason could just find a job in any major city. We wouldn't have to worry about money problems or moving far away. Oh well, these hard times will certainly make us appreciate the good times in our future more.

Oops, I should get to bed. Gotta work in the morning.
