Ok, so I thought it would be fun to do a little informal critique on each other's fiction. The idea stemmed from blessed_beast's The Icon Truth Meme, for icon makers.

I love the fact that you instantly draw me into your story... from the damp chill of Seattle to the steam heat of Saigon... I'm there.
Whatever the setting, I can count on it to be vivid and interesting and full of the kinds of details only discovered on the second or third pass, because once is never enough with your work. Never.
I admire your skill with the most minor of characters, how a few sharp strokes describe them, and how they add depth and color and shadow.
And all of this is just a prelude to what's truly great about your writing: the characterization of Spike and Xander (and Giles and Oz and....) oh, you get the point. They go through so many permutations in your hands, but never once do they become unrecognizeable. Always, there's the core of the canon characters that I fell in love with so many years ago. That's damn tough. And damn fine when someone like you can pull it off.
The best way I can say it is that your Xander, whether he's lost and alone or strong and focused, is always Xander, and he breaks my heart just a little bit. And your Spike? Always scares me at least a little, and always makes me laugh. Often at the same time. (I especially enjoy it when you settle in and write 'darker' Spike, a la "Credence" and "Sweeter Far Than Flowing Honey" - but that's just a deep, personal kink.)
Oh god, I could go on and on. But I won't. I have file box (not just a folder, a box!) on my shelf labeled "TABAQUI!". That just about says it all.
