Happy Hookah!!

...and that it was :)

I don’t even know where to begin; this weekend was just sooo awesome! Truly, Hookahville was amazing!

However, on Friday I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to go anymore…I was just so tired from working constantly, from getting next to NO sleep. Seriously, all of last week, I think that I got no more than seven hours in one night-though I think the average was closer to five and a half.

In any case, I was EXTREMELY tired, just wanted to lie down and rest.

I managed to get off from Scott’s a little early, about quarter to ten, which was nice. I went home and took a shower, certain that it would be the last opportunity that I would have to do so for the next three days.

I was right.

I didn’t take much with me-just a sleeping bag, pillow, sweatshirt, sweater-thing, and my purse. Flip flops that I accidentally left in my car. I got to Ryan’s around eleven (p.m., by the way). It turned out that Ariel couldn’t go, so we would be able to take one vehicle after all :) All told, there were six of us: Me, Ryan, Jill, Squez, Josh, and Jar. When I got there, we decided to go ahead and buy food…so we hopped in the van and went to Kroger. Well, to be accurate, the four guys got their weekend started by smoking a bowl, and Jill and I sat in the back and waited for them to take us to Kroger.

When I think about it, it wasn’t that smart for us to go to a food store right after they just smoked pot…though I suppose it could’ve ended up a lot worse than it did. We didn’t really buy more than was necessary….well, unless you count Jar’s insistence that we HAD to buy some Yoohoo. But other than that…good to go.

So…yeah, we picked up the food and split the cost; it ended up to be about ten dollars a person. Ha!-and since Ryan, Jill, and Squez were all vegetarians, we got veggie burgers and hotdogs, as well as a couple packages of regular hotdogs for Jar and Josh, who don’t like animal-friendly foods ;). I have to say, I DID NOT like the non-meat burgers and hot dogs, either. *shiver* nasty nasty I ended up slathering them with mustard and barbeque sauce.

Anyway, we all stayed the night at Ryan’s, with the guys sleeping downstairs, Jill and I sleeping in the guestroom….and of course Ryan in his own room. We were quite hilarious the next morning-for we got up at six-thirty in order to be on the road at seven…

The drive passed without anything major happenings…probably because I slept nearly all of the three-and-a-half hour trip :D When we got there, it was funny to see the large amount of police officers that were patrolling the area. We passed a car that was getting searched….which made them kinda wonder if they were random searches or if the people got pulled over. If it was the latter, then they were morons…you should know that a big hippy concert would be expected to draw out a lot of drugs-don’t be a moron and speed down a country road RIGHT OUTSIDE the entrance.

But yeah, we got the tents set up and everything. The guys had the big tent; all four of them could fit inside…it was Ryan’s graduation present last year, apparently. Jill and I shared the smaller tent.

It sucked, because scattered rain showers were called for all of Saturday; so we made sure everything was waterproof then headed off. Of course, before we left, they had to smoke again; I kinda felt a little left out, but that’s okay…they teased me a little, but Jill definitely got on their cases when they put it on a little too thick. That girl, I tell you, is so feisty! Hilarious, too :)

I’ll kinda abbreviate the rest, seeing as this is already EXTREMELY long….it was just sooo much fun! Ummm, we got to see Bob Marley’s band, The Wailers; and after they left….EKOOSTIK HOOKAH!!!! We missed most of the first set (overall, they played four hours…from seven ‘til eleven-Ohio time) ‘cause we had to eat, then the others decided to play hackey (yay hippies). But we caught most of the second.

By that time, we were all a little tired from standing for so long, so we sat to the side to watch them. I was a little disappointed, because it was my first time seeing Hookah, and we weren’t up close…but I heard some really good songs  Then we went back and slept…all of us were exhausted.

Next day was pretty much the same-with watching bands, shopping in the lover-ly hippy shops, and everybody around me being either drunk or high.

Some of the highlights of the day: No-pants guy that just drifted up behind Jar and stood there, looking dazed. A shoe, randomly sitting on the ground on fire (well, more just quietly smoking). Two women directly in front of us that decided they didn’t want tan lines…so they took their tops off (hehe, the guys wouldn’t stop staring at them). Jar eating (all of these contained weed): Pizza, peanut butter and Jelly, brownies, pound cake, Goo Balls…hmmm, I think that may have been it. I’m pretty sure…but then he also smoked it. Josh messing with Jill (big mistake) and her playfully hitting him in the nose…giving him a nose bleed :D That was so great, tiny Jill punching behemoth Josh :D

It was good times :) The VERY BEST part was last night, though, when Hookah came on; the first set we sat on the ground…but second set we actually went to the middle, right in front of the stage!!! It was so freaking awesome! I have to say, that I am absolutely in love with Ekoostik Hookah live….they are amazing. Truly amazing :) I am in awe…as their encore, they did Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” which was mind blowing…not only was it a freaking awesome job, but it was totally out of genre…how many times do you go to a hippy concert and hear Metallica?

I only have one more interesting happening that I think I would like to note (haha, I can hear all the mental sighs… “Is it over yet??”). Jill and I went to bed soon after we got back from Hookah; at about a quarter after four in the morning, she whispered “Amanda” and I was instantly awake. She’s like… “I really have to go to the bathroom, but I don’t want to go alone, because there are still a lot of people up.” So of course I agreed…and she was right, even our neighbors were still around their campfire, and as we passed they pleasantly said, “Happy Hookah!”…and cries of “HOOOOOOOOO KAAAAAAAAAHHH” resonated through the camp. As we were coming back from the port-a-potties, somebody set off HUGE fireworks really near our tent (we’re talking the kind that are illegal in Indiana, here)….and someone screamed: “FOUR TWENTY!!”…sure enough, I looked at my watch…it was four twenty. Of course, Jill had to shout at the top of her lungs, “Yeah, that means go to bed, morons!” I love that girl :)

So anyway, that was pretty much Hookahville. Sorry for the long entry…sooo much happened, and I even left a lot out. *sigh* good times, good times :)

HOOKAH!!!
