On Sunday, the last day of my stay in Tucson, we visited the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. This museum is a combined nature park, zoo and museum, and houses a large number of desert animals - mammals, lizards, insects, birds... - plants and exhibitions relating to life in the desert. So I'm still enjoying the sun and the classes and the surroundings and the people I'm getting to know here in Tucson, but not so much the nerves before my own presentation on Saturday and the feelings of inadequacy that comes from being around all these brilliant people in the same field as me. I am having a wonderful time here so far. I just bought plane tickets to the US; I'll be spending nine days in Arizona and then two days in Chicago on the way back.

I am so excited..!!

And nervous.

I'm stealing a moment at work to watch the live broadcast from the ceremonies in Washington D.C. before I have to go to a meeting. A lot can be said about how Obama might or might not be able to make changes in the US, but at the moment I'm most of all wondering about how this day must be for Obama himself.
