Speaking of trees, here is one of my two favourite Christmas trees that are to be found outside in Oslo. This is a birch tree that every year at the start of December is done up with lights all over, both on the trunk and on a majority of the many thin branches. I like it so much because it makes so much of itself; it lights up the surrounding area and my mood like nothing else.
-- We are a little starved for light during winter time here, and that is one of the reasons why I love Christmas in general; there is more light everywhere and a continuous reminder that there is something more to the world and something bigger out there than just the everyday trudging to and from work in the dark.--
It was tough to get a decent photo of this tree with only my pocket camera (you'd need a tripod, an SLR and more knowledge than I currently possess). Even so, I am relatively pleased with how this turned out. I placed my foot on a stone standing there and leant my elbow on my knee in order to keep the camera as steady as possible. I added a sepia tone to it when I edited it, which I think suits it very well and which got rid of the odd green overtones.
