Riley - because I obviously haven't posted enough today hahah

She was making her way down the hallway alone. Katie and Alicia were ahead of her, Angie telling Alicia she needed to talk to Snape after potions which was a fat lie. But for the last few days Angie just wasn't herself ( Read more... )

The hallway was nearly empty when Riley slipped out of his potions classroom. He'd told Snape that he needed to run errands for Professor Sprout, and he'd believed every word of it!

There were definitely understated perks to being a prefect at Hogwarts.

"Um, your welcome?" Riley answered, glancing down on the familiar sight of his girl, and the unfamiliar one of her books strewn everywhere. Without being asked, he bent to help.

"Clumbsy today, yeah?"

"What?" Angie was paying attention to who was talking until she saw who it was.

"Oh, Riley. Sorry." She looked distracted as she picked up the last of the books and standing to get up.

"Not really. Just some stupid first year who doesn't know how to walk." Sounding a little on the bitter side she looked and Riley and gave a half-assed smile before motioning to take her books from him.

He was reluctant to give up her things, mainly because the look on her face troubled him, so he kept both hands firmly on either side of the stack.

"So, whats up?" he asked pointedly, no avoidance in his face whatsoever.

"Nothing." Angie answered too quickly and new it the moment she did it. But she also held onto the books in case he would let go.

It was an awkward moment where Angie didn't know what to say.
"Just not feeling up to transfiguration right now. What about you? Shouldn't you be in class?" Changing the subject to a degree Angie barely noticed the fact that her wrist was exposed, a thick purple hand print showing, sweater rolled up while she was holding onto the stack.

His eyes narrowed.

"Technically no. Technically I should be helping Professor Sprout. But I lied. So no, no I shouldn't be."

His eyes darted down to the books, pulling them closer to himself, "What are you-"

But that's when his eyes found the purple ghost of a hand around her wrist. Viral. Violent. Violet

He didn't say a word. His eyes just lingered...

"Come on Riley give me my books." She said sounding all joking and soft but there was distraction all over her face.

Her eyes caught his and they weren't looking at her face, or the books. They were locked on her wrist.

Shaking her wrist and pulling it away she gripped her sleeve and pulled it over the mark.
"I should probably go to transfiguration." Angie tugged a little harder at the pile of books with her good arm, the silence making her nervous.

He caught her around the waist before she could run-- not that he would've let he. She had some explaining to do.

"Angelina wait-" Riley started, but the words after that were much more difficult to find. The normally eloquent, tactful, and charming Riley couldn't find another string of words to say but, "What in the hell is that?"

"It's just a bruise. I... hurt my wrist. It'll be fine, don't worry about it." She wasn't looking at him while she spoke, she was trying not to think of all the things she wanted to say.

Her arm curved around her books holding them to her chest.

Now this was a tough situation. There was no other way to look at it.

Riley's did a quick scan of the halls, no one. They didn't need to make this worse by involving anyone else.

"What, did you fall into a hand shaped rock, Ang?" He asked, fully calling her bluff in a tone that could only be described as annoyed and worry. Annoyed that she was blatantly lying to him. Worried over the origin of the lie. But it all boiled down to concern.

"Come on.. please don't lie to me like this."

She felt like that was uncalled for.

"Great Riley. Because sarcasm is exactly what I wanted to hear." But he was right. She was lying to him.

But telling the truth... well the more she thought about it the more angry she got. So she dropped the lies and got right to the point.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Her eyes went right to his. Angie didn't care who heard, she was mad enough at the situation that it didn't matter. "You knew the whole time. It's why you didn't want me to see him but you never told me." Angelina swallowed hard. She suppressed herself from screaming at him by closing her eyes and exhaling slowly.

Oh...

Oh, well..

.. there was that..

Riley had to regroup. His hands dropped from the book; he was visibly taken off guard, even though he knew this was coming.

"It wasn't my place," Riley tried to tell her, but that just didn't sound right even if it was true, "It's not usually like this."

"Usually?" Angie's eyes went wide in a sort of shock. "Not usually like this? What is is usually like?" She couldn't help the raised tone but as she looked around the hallway she felt frustrated.

Angie didn't want to do this here.

"Well don't worry about it. Really Riley. It's a Family matter now, not your place to get involved." It wasn't fair of her to say that, she knew it, but she was so damn mad.
This was a big secret. One hell of a secret that involved her, before indirectly now directly, and he hadn't even given her a clue.

But her lashing out at him was not right. She was angry at her father, angry at the situation and of course he was getting the brunt of it.
Poor guy.

"Don't worry about it," he echoed, trying hard to keep his voice low and calm, "Don't worry about it."

Without warning, he turned for the dungeons, arm still around Angelina's waist. He gently towed her along, being ever so careful as to not cause any harm. That was the last thing he wanted.

"Is there anything you want to own up to before it's my turn to speak" he asked discretely and quickly, swiftly moving them through the hall.

She didn't get much of a protest in as he ushered Angie through the hallway toward the dungeons.

"I don't have anything I need to own up to." Angie replied defensively. But she didn't put up much of a fight. Normally, in her right mind, the girl would be kicking, punching, yelling and making her way in the opposite direction but the Hogsmeade event left her startled and on the meeker side.
Angie was not the same.

Wow, I totally thought this post went through days ago. riley_s_od March 22 2009, 21:38:24 UTC
Riley muttered the password to the Slytherin common room and the statue slid aside. Silently, he brought them through mostly empty meeting place, and barely looked back as they descended the staircase to the boys dormitories.

"Right then," He said, pushing the door open to his own empty room and holding it open for her, "Start talking."

Now, now she felt uncomfortable. Before was nothing compared to this as she remained silent, refusing to look at him.

"It's fine." Angie repeated, swallowing hard. "We talked and I came back. Nothing else to say."

What did he want to hear? 'My Dad told me the truth and I flipped'. That much was obvious. Mostly though Angie was just trying to keep from yelling at Riley, the same thought just running through her head over and over again.
You should have fucking told me.
