I use iTunes too but Media Monkey lets you take the music off of one ipod and put it on another.

Yeah, mine got messed up when my nephew fooled around with it. Haven't been able to use the ipod since.

Have you tried restoring the orginal settings via iTunes? That usually does the trick. You'll have to reload the ipod afterward but it resets everything.
