I love UUCQ, my congregation for the last two years, but since they decided to let the pastor go due to money woes, I've been reconsidering if it is the best place for me. We voted today on whether or not to have a part time pastor because at least some of us want to grow spiritually and may need spiritual guidance or support during difficult times. The thing is, many UUs tend to shy away from exploring the spiritual. To my disappointment, the vote was against even a part time pastor, with the weekly slots being filled by guest speakers. I think it's a mistake that's going to cost them in the long run.
