The internet really does have everything
Tonight I was craving a food I grew up on: frikadellan. Actually, we called them frickadellas and my dad said his Mom made them a lot following WW II because it helped stretch out the meat for the week. It's basically ground meat of whatever kind is leftover plus bread, usually on the stale side, mixed with onion and spices. I had a lot of leftover steak tonight and figured I'd make them but I couldn't find my recipe. The internet had one though. Actually it had dozens. I also never thought about their origin and didn't know they were German meat patties. So now I had another connection to my grandmother and my past. How cool is that?
