From Eurovision to Transilvanian Black Metal
This is going to be one hell of a memory test now to remember what the hell I have been doing for the past 10 days!!
Well I watched Eurovision with my cider and some amazing texts between myself and Die and Shakira and also some chats with Martha. So funny, highlights were definitely the addition of translated subtitles and the Ukraine!! Was dead impressed with the return of Lordi and APOCALYPTICA for the interval act, get in! The Sunday I remember being quite quiet and then later going to get Scott from the station and hearing all about his Neurotic Deathfest trip!
On the Monday after work I got Neil and went to the Star & Garter in Manchester, first on were Bossk who were alright in parts, a bit Charger like but with no vocals except for the last 5 minutes when some Trivium impersonator appeared! Then I got to see what I was really there for NEGURA BUNGET (Transilvanian Black Metal), it was seriously possibly the the best set I have seen in my life! They used a huge horn (oo eer) and xylophones and drums and nnnrrgnnnrgh it was just amazing!!! Ephel Duath were on next but they were rubbish so we left. Met the pipe smoking Oliver properly, top chap!
Tuesday was tiring as I went for an evening of Death Metal in the new Leeds Rios which was pretty impressive, especially sound wise, it is like being in a huge attic! Saw Dawn of Azazel but wasn't impressed, Grave were great, best time I've seen them. Krisiun were actually alright and not as one dimensional as I thought they would be. Immolation were spot on, played some old classics and some from the new album (which I 'ave recently reviewed). Great night even if the Leeds one way system leaves something to be desired! Saw Oliver and Paul and gave a couple of lifts to them!
Wednesday I was so tired in the evening and went to bed before 12pm for the first time in years!! On the Tursday I went with my Mum and Dad to Peckforton Castle for a Skoda launch night, we got free Hog Roast :D and a mini-tour of the castle, also got to see a Peacock fly!
Friday I went to Southport to Scott's and watched some stuff on telly (we think we watched a film but I've forgotten) and had a few drinks. On Saturday we had a wonderful lie in and then went to get some food for a bit of pasta before nearly being bored to death by the F.A Cup Final, I nodded off at one point! Things perked up later when Dr. Who was on, looking forward to the evil Scarecrows next week!! Then we went out to the Ship & Anchor which had no draught on, boo! Then went the Fox and mainly watched people play pool, saw Carl and chatted to other pool table lurkers! Sunday we went for a wander to town and got a couple of things. Got curry for dinner and was sad to go as the weekend flew by. Was nice to have a relatively relaxing weekend after such a full week.
Pub quiz last night with Die, Chris and Neil. We came third....out of three teams! Very empty it was and this time we were called 'Canape'!! Die also gave me a really cute chain mail purse which is sooo nice :D She also gave me Wychwood bottle tops for t-shirts and a CD of Matt Howden which I am putting on next :D Its great having friends!!
Halifax today with work so I was up at 6.30, but it did mean I got to go home at half two when we got back! So finally watched the end on Dalziel & Pascoe (the occult themed one), had sausage and mash and a bit of a kip hahaha!!!
Woohoo finished, has turned into a bit of a monster!!
