And THIS Is The Guy Who's Probably Going To Be The Candidate

Yesterday, Mittens was asked about immigration reform. Among the things he said:"You don't have a way of telling, if someone comes and they speak with an accent do you say, well, are you here legally or illegally?"
Somehow, I bet he doesn't wonder if someone's here illegally if they have a Boston accent. Or a Brooklyn accent. Or an Italian accent ( Read more... )

really. My grandmother was an illegal alien from 1912 until the 70's amnesty thing happened. But she was white and Welsh. No one every challenged her.

"White and Welsh" sounds like the name of a trying-too-hard junk shop, where the "junk" is carefully designed tacky pseudo-antique crap designed for young idiots who think they can buy a sense of style wholesale.

Aficionados would call it "Dub-Dubs", as in "Oh, this brass-and-wood lantern? We got it at the Dub-Dubs by the mall. It was at the same time that we picked up those distressed gas station signs and the $600 snowglobe."

edit for spelling.

Hey, HE speaks with an accent! Have we ever heard him questioned about his citizenship? [/sarcasm degree="bitter"]

The opposition ad practically writes itself. Start off with the clip of Mittens talking about "accents." Cut to a Joisey person saying, "This is an American accent." Cut to a North Texan (for maximum nasal twang) saying, "This is an American accent." Cut to a Tidewater Virginian saying, "This is an American accent." Cut to a Gullah saying, "This is an American accent."

Repeat as necessary. Heck, consider throwing in a group shot of newly sworn-in citizens saying, "Our accents are now American."

It was done in A Matter of Life and Death/Stairway to Heaven back in 1946.

Some things don't change.
