The mountains await
After much thought, I've decided that the job at $NEWEMPLOYER isn't for me and I've called them and told them not to expect me on the 6th of February after all. I'm still leaving $EMPLOYER, though. Not going to change that.
I realize that I've been missing a lot of what I need "inside," so on Friday next, I shall leave work and head to JFK airport so I can fly to Kathmandu, Nepal. From there, I'll be undertaking a pilgrimage on foot to a small monastery up in the mountains. It is my intention to study there and, with luck, they'll accept me as one of the monks.
I've already made arrangements to donate most of my furniture, clothing and "stuff" to local charity organizations; I'm only keeping what clothing I need for the next week and my whistle. I can't take the guitar with me on the trek. I'll be sad to see it go, but I think it's important.
I'm looking forward to this new adventure.
