Ok.. Where I live you have to give 20 days notice to the landlord that you are moving.. so if you let them know by June 1st.. you are giving plenty of notice.. Option 2 would probably be the easiest money wise. Most places do not prorate the rent on a move out.. so if you are there for 13 days you pay for the whole month.. and they are not to rent it out till the 1st of the next month unless you make a deal. I would do this
1. Give them official written notice ASAP.. 2. Let them know you are moving as of the 30th of June maybe they can try to get someone to move in on the 1st of July as well. 3. If they cant.. then see if they would be willing to prorate.. think of it this way.. You have given them plenty of notice. if they are not willing to work a deal.. you can always leave on the 30th and they have to pay your FULL share for July.. if they are willing to work a deal.. they have less to pay.. and you have more time to move your stuff.. Yes they are your friends.. but you have to look out for yourself.. and dont let them screw you over..
