The cloaked figure paused, glanced around. He couldn't see anyone -- no one to have spoken the giggling, high-pitched words, no one for the speaker to have addressed. The path in Hollow Bastion was clear of all Heartless, for the moment, but no civilians crossed this dangerous district.
...hmph. He took another step.
"Oi! I'm talking to you!"
To me? He turned around fully, tipping back his hood with one hand so that he could look for the source of the voice unobstructed.
Belatedly he saw the little figure, no more than six inches tall but dressed in bright primary colors, hovering in the air (on thin red wings?) with her hands on her hips and watching him.
She thinks I'm cute? Like this? The cloaked figure wanted to huddle in on himself. Too tall, too dark, hair too long and too pronounced... Too not himself. He was glad for the coat that kept him from revealing this face to the world, and pulled his hood back up

Aerith's clothes and her hands were stained with dirt, grime buried deep beneath her fingernails. She had never looked happier, not in as long as Cloud could remember.
She was smiling. "Welcome home," she said when she saw him standing at the edge of her garden.
Home? Cloud shifted restlessly, tossing the edge of his robe out of the way. He looked to the side, uncomfortable. I shouldn't have come here.Aerith didn't seem to notice his show of indifference -- or, more likely, noticed and simply chose to move beyond. "Have you been into town yet?" she asked gently. "It's so much brighter now. And everyone is doing such a wonderful job of rebuilding. And none of it would have been possible without your sword, Cloud

I like Aerith a lot, and although I personally ship her with Leon, it's so much fun to play with her canon relationships. Like CLOUD. XD He makes Squall look friendly.
(Sadly, the way I do drabble challenges means that few people comment on them in general, but they're a lot of fun~ And it's better than flooding my LJ with 30 500-word drabbles, right? XD )
