Today, and the past week or so, has been a little rough. I had a little navigation trouble today when I was trying to back my truck into the poorly designed one lane motel-esque parking lot here at Tiffany's apartments. I cut the wheel left trying to get into a spot without hitting the adjacent vehicle when all of a sudden I heard an impact and saw my side mirror explode and snap off. Apparently, the plastic clasp holding the mirror to the car reached its tension limit and broke off. At the very same instant that impact sound was the left front quarter panel of my truck. Yeah. I hit a concrete pylon that had been placed there to protect the exterior stairwell... It was my fault, obviously, but it still managed to piss me right off. Especially because I looked at it again and realized that if I noticed the mirror being pushed I could've avoided the entire thing... Looks like I've got some work to do before I can sell the truck.
I'm not going to start recapping and backtracking, trying to make up for the gap of time between this post and my last. That being said, there is a moment in recent history I'd like to mention. I got a dog. Her name's Hannah and she came from the
Town Lake Animal Center. She's 6 months old and she's one of the sweetest dogs I've ever come across. She seems to be already housebroken. It's required a little bit of work but she's started going to the door and sitting down when she needs to go out. I took her to the vet to have her checked out and they had to take out the staples used to hold her spaying incision together. The vet thinks that the shelter bunched too much skin together when they stapled it and it was getting a little irritated. It would appear to be getting better, if I could just get her to stop licking it.
UPS is going ... well. The hours (3:20a-8:45a) are corrosive and the work is hard, to the say the least. Having to load packages like 110 lb. 3-ton service jacks is pretty fuckin' rough. The drive is weighing on me too, I got a ticket the other day. Driving 81 mph on I-35. I was pacing a couple other cars and I was the one he decided to pull over. I guess I was more convenient. For some reason I always manage to make the bullshit manual labor jobs stick. I guess it's because I don't have to work with the public and the amount of people I answer to is minimal...
The move to San Marcos has already proven itself to be stressful. I can't wait until mid-August when we're all moved in and everything's done. Money will continue to be a problem unless I get the second job at Coffee Pot. The woman who does the hiring is a flake but the coffee shop seems pretty cool.
I was looking at the new Frank Miller movie, 300, today. The conceptual stills are exciting.
Click here or above for the rest of the concept stuff.I still haven't seen a trailer, but it will be pretty cool. I think. Having not read the book, I'm not sure what to expect. The director is the same guy who did Dawn of the Dead and I liked that so...
That's all, I'll have more to say after packing, moving, and playing with Hannah tomorrow.
