Summer's Almost Gone
I can feel it slipping, summertime, that is. I don't know whether to be glad that it won't be long before i'm wearing long sleeves, and drinking cider, or to dread the grey skies that are certain to follow all of that beautiful Autumn weather. I really do enjoy the fall. The colors are amazing, and that signature smell is something I really love.
I've always liked hayrides. When I was little, I really loved going with my mom and my aunt to this pumpkin farm. It was called Stat's Pumpkin Farm. I couldn't even tell you the exact location of it now since I was so young, and there's a good chance that it's all condos now. Sad. At the farm they had a hayride, a haunted house, and some really great pumpkins. I can remember the sense of excitment I felt about going there. I think it was because that made me realize how close Halloween was.
Things have been good with Christin, and I. We had a great time at my cousin's wedding. She's been constantly impressing me with her willingness to try new things. She and I were guests on my father's sailboat when he was docked in Perth Amboy. We sailed out around the inlet all day with Sandy Hook in clear sight. I think she and I are creating memories together that we'll look back on some day. We plan to eventually go horseback riding. She insists that I ride a little horse so we're the same height off of the ground lol. I love doing new things with her. We've had so many good times, but one of them always makes me smile when I think of it. We had gone camping with my aunt up in Stokes State Forest earlier in the year and I showed her how to catch a fish. It was the greatest. We were both standing at the edge of the lake and it was nearly dusk. I'd caught a couple of Sunfish so I gave her the pole and soon enough she caught one. It was funny because she was all frazzled and said "what should I do!!?" I said "reel it in!!!!" She was so cute about it all. She can get away with the innocent, 'I don't know what the hell i'm doin'' routine right now, but I wouldn't put it past her to outfish me one of these days! :) Of course, then i'll have to show her who's boss. It's just that simple lol.
