Well kids, this is it. I'm all packed for college. All I have to do is get into the car and drive off into the sunset. It'll actually be a sunRISE, though, because we're leaving tomorrow morning. I just want to say goodbye for a few days, until I get to Earlham. I can't wait to see my friends that are going there, and to meet my roommate Nathan, and to meet my professors, and unpack my things, and have all those wonderful experiences that college is supposed to be full of.
I'm glad I've got friends who know how I feel.
I'm glad I've got parents who love me (and know how I feel).
I'm glad my sister is so cool and I love her.
I'm glad that my pets are so gentle and loving (even though Charlee is DUM and you can tell him I said it, Mom), and I'm going to miss them madly.
I'm glad that I'm going to a college that is so caring and supportive of people's individual needs.
I'm glad there are so many people in our community who care for me.
I'm glad that I feel prepared for life in college.
I'm glad that you're still reading this sentimental sludge. Make me feel good, ya know?
I'm glad that I can stay in contact with my friends at home.
I'm glad I've had such a wonderful first 18 years of my life.
I'm glad for a lot more than this, believe me. It's all I can manage to get on paper right now, though. But you all know what I'm glad for. They're some of the same things that you're glad for. When I told her that I was having trouble writing, Jessica said "It's ideas, not sentences." Ten points to Griffyndor for a bullseye statement.
I'm off to bed. Lotta driving tomorrow. It's almost 1200 miles from here to Richmond, so... yeah.
Peace (and lots of it)--
