I took the train into Boston again and got off at Back Bay. From there I walked over to the Public Gardens for a swan ride. I guess I could have used the T instead of walking, but I had time and it saved me a couple bucks. As I made my way over to the gardens, another person asked me for directions. This time I didn't know where to point her, but I pulled out my map and led her in the right direction.
I waited in line for the swan ride and I almost had to wait for the second ride but there was a spot for one more person and I was let through. "There's room in the second row." It's about a fifteen minute ride as the glorified paddle boat glides around the pond. Again, I was a little afraid of the water, but sucked it up.
After the ride, I walked over to Faneuiel Hall and had lunch at Wagamama for the first time. There was a Wagamama in London, but I had never gone. It was nice, although a little on the expensive side for lunch for the type of restaurant it was. I ordered the fruit juice (3.95), main entree (10.00), water (2.95) and a side order of edamamme (3.95). When the main entree came, it was humungous and dwarfed my normal-sized cup. I was afraid I wouldn't finish, but that wasn't the case. I also managed to finish all the edamamme as well. It had chili garlic salt as a seasoning. Tasty.
After lunch, I walked through the markets (North, South, Quincy). After looking but buying nothing, I decided to go back to Cambridge for a souvenir. I bought a shirt from the student-run university shop, which took advantage of the Boston accent by proclaiming "Hahvahd." I looked through some other shops (some I'm sure my uncles would have loved) and then headed back to Boston. I walked around for a while, visiting some gravesites, and then went back to Park Street to go to South Station. I got on the commuter train and made my way back to Franklin.
Once again, Kim and I walked back with each other. I showered and had some dinner. We decided to check out a used bookstore that Kim had heard so much about, but unfortunately it was closed. We went to Panera for drinks. Kim had hot chocolate and I had ginger peach tea. We sat down and talked for a while, chatting about our favorite classes and professors that we have had over the years. Then we crossed the parking lot to the frequented Stop N Shop so Kim could buy her lunch for the week. We went home and watched Ella Enchanted and headed for bed. It was going to be an earlier morning for me to hit the public transit just right to make my flight.
