So I don't feel like right now, I can string coherent sentences together very well. I have some stuff to write about, so we're going to do this the old-fashioned AP American History Outline way. :)
I. Birthdays
1) Yuni celebrated her birthday on Jan 20th, and Beaux and I went out with her downtown, in true Jeske form, all prettied up. Beaux got sick after a while and left us and Yuni and I met up with Matt and Val, two crazy kids at the Tea Alps dive for some dessert. We had a good time, even though it was frigid as ever and I was a loser and was wearing my jeans with ripped knees. My knees got all chapped, which was lovely and I decided never to go out without stockings ever again.
2) The great Mal Coppenrath celebrated her 20th on Jan 27th, and she got me some POM juice and a great book for my birthday as well. ROCK ON, MAL! Haha. (Emo Jake watch out!)
II. Classes
1) Muckraking is interesting, but my professor is a little anal. In Silver, the wait to get on the elevator is like 15 minutes, so even if you get to the building on time, you won't get to class on time, which is horrendous. There's some interesting kids in my class, including a hardcore punk, a Canadian (why would you pay even more to come to NYU because of the exchange rate?) and this girl who is obsessed with feminist writers. Great.
2) Topics of Modern Society: Mass Society and its Anxieties is a bore. Sleepfest. It's all philosophical and we're reading Thomas Paine again, and Nietzsche again and Mills and wow, it is a tiresome situation. Not cool. Not only is the class dull, the professor is this little elf of a man who wears suit jackets three sizes too big. Distracting, yes.
3) Quantitative Reasoning is okay so far. The lecture is fun because its Mal, me, Joe, Chloe, Beaux, Lindsey and lots of material to make fun of. In addition, there is a beautiful boy that caught the eye of us ladies. Life doesn't always suck, apparently. I have a very fun lab group, haha. We are however, the loser lab group who needed help on every problem. TYPICALLLLLLL.
4) Reporting makes me want to shoot my eye out and it is my own personal 2 hour class of hell every Monday and Wednesday. I cannot go into every detail because I will become weak and angry. I dislike every aspect of this one, thanks.
III. Shows
1) So I went to see Mike's band Sunday Luck play at Oil City Skate Park in Oceanside with the fabulous Nicole. We got lost along he way but had alot of fun doing so. It was cold, but upon arrival, we decided to leave our jackets and gloves and scarves in the car so we wouldnt have to hold them inside the place. So, we went in, didn't have to pay, and hung around for a while before deciding we were freezing and needed our layers. I go outside to get them, and with my luck, the keys are locked inside of the car. I got this really nice boy to help me with a slimjim, but it wasn't working, and he was frostbitten. Seeing as he had to sing next, I let him go inside, and his dad came to help me. Apparently I had an anti-theft bar, and the slimjim was of no use. Nicole called her friend, who drove to my house, got my spare keys and drove out to us just to deliver them. How sweet? In the meantime, we ate some kids food, took pictures, hung around and watched the bands. All of them were good, and Mike's band really impressed me. All around fun show, good people, good times, better luck getting home. :)
IV. Home
1) Went to see Butterfly Effect with Val and Alanna. We got carded at the door, haha, which was a hysterical moment. The movie, while it recieved horrible reviews was actually quite good. The little boys in it were adorable (oh gosh, am I still a pedophile?) and Ashton was surprisingly good in a dramatic role.
So, been pretty busy with all that and more working (but the heat is fixed, yay!) and internning. Death Cab for Cutie next week. Psyched for that one. And I'm out.
