So there is a whole bunch of things that I have neglected to write about because I was enjoying my vacation a little too much. I'm back at school now, and per my usual routine, I am going to write a journal entry. Aren't we all excited? Pressing on...
Starting with work, I've been a retail slave of sorts, working killer hours and shifts at Abercrombie. This entire Christmas season, or the last 3 weeks to be exact, we have had no heat at the store. Now, when I say 'no heat' I mean it is warmer outside in the snow than inside the store. It sucks, but we've been making the best of it. Every day, we find new clothes to wear and we have a huge dress-up party of sorts, which is so funny. Plus, we get to test the clothes before we buy them. Hysterical. I love almost everyone I work with, and we had a wonderful season. Woot, Woot. We dress up the gigantic moose we have in sunglasses, hats, nose rings, scarves, the works. We dance and sing and parade around like nobody's business. I've come to the conclusion that as of right now, I wouldn't want to work anywhere else. Even though I complain about it alot, and I have had some weirdos cross my path, all in all, it's pleasantly tolerable. :) My intern job at Interview Magazine has been going well. I'm going to start going twice a week. It is alot of work, and spreadsheets and errand running, but it's cool. Andy Warhol is a veritable God, and I will do anything for something he created. Foolishness, I tell you.
On the friend front, there has been some drama between all of us, but it is slowly dying down. Alanna had a New Year's party that was smashing, and Val, Joey and I trekked into Brooklyn for that one. Drinks were made, games were played, the DTR DVD was watched (hello, why not?) and a good time was had. Alanna and I are finalizing Skate and Surf plans for this year, and guess who was added to the 3rd day line-up? Did we guess Something Corporate? If you did, you're a genius. So, that just makes my semester, even though it is a few months away. What else, what else? Oh, Val and I got harrassed by a gay guy selling a salon treatment at the mall. He called us saucy and wanted us to kiss him and slap his butt. He said Val was the Miranda from 'Sex...' then changed his mind and called us "Carrie' and 'Samantha.'
As far as shows go, I've been making plans for a bunch in the upcoming months, which is great because I need something to keep me busy and my mind off of my mom and school when it need be. I think I only went to like two shows over break, only one of which I can remember. Dorrie and Stace were going to NJ to see Hidden In Plain View and Madison and others, and I decided I was in too. I convinced Val to come with, because, hey, it's a Jersey show, and who lives in Jersey? The Early November. If that wasn't reason enough to go I don't know what was. So, we went, didn't see them because tour started the next day but Senses Fail were there, and they played a bunch of new songs, and it was absolutely freeeeezing over there. We were making jokes about how Buddy looks like Meatloaf circa Spice World. The bands were all pretty good, we had a good time minus the induced hypothermia and all was well.
Ummm, what else was fun? Ohhh, yes, I went to the recording studio with Mike and we pulled some hijinx there, flooded the bathroom, drew tattoos all over each other with sharpees and switched clothes. Fun times in Lindenhurst. :) (Joey says I am a MINX.) Also, my birthday was on the 18th and we had a little shindig. Val, Joey, Ash, Geoff, David, Maria, Ams, Rob, Liz and I went to The Factory and heffed out before doing some Balderdash and then the other day some of us went bowling as a second celebration. Good times.
Soooo, back to school for me, in a few hours, I have Muckraking, Inventing Modern Society and Quantitative Reasoning in store. I think I'll also get some errands done, buy some books, and then go out for Yuni's birthday.
