Alright, everyone else seems to be writing their Hanson entries, so I'll finally jump on the bandwagon. I'm so crammed with things to do right now that I'm putting off, so this might be really off-center and chaotic and entirely not understandable, but I'm gonna try to fit like a weeks worth of happenings into short paragraphs. :)
Okay, so last week, I met up with Dorrie and her friends from Pace to ctach Taking Back Sunday on Last Call with Carson Daly. Apparently, I've become a regular on that damn show after the fact that I despise Carson. So, anyway...we get there and Christina spots us and we chat for a little while before making the best of a shitty, time consuming wait near little punks losers who wouldn't curb their talking for more than half a millisecond. A bunch of little ids liked my Finch bag, so I was okay with them for about 5 minutes and then they annoyed me again. Once we were led upstairs, we waited a lot longer, made fun of everyone there, and tricked Xtina. She's obsessed with Adam, so the trickery continued. Dorrie and I were peeing ourselves, it was hilarious. So I'm skipping alot here, but the TBS performance was decent. They're not my favorite band, and even GOD knows that BRAND NEW are the obvious winners of that band battle. Anyway, they performed two songs, one for T.V and one specifically for the audience. Their new bassist was playing an upright bass (which looked to me and Jessie like a cello, but I guess it wasn't.) I was totally ready to attempt a walk-out when they played one of John Nolan's songs, but kept my cool. Overall, it was okay...but TBS is overhyped. Thank You.
Moving on to the Hanson show at Carnegie Hall, preparation was in effect for Des and I as we began 'The Great Search' for an outfit. Two days spent looking, and did we find anything? Absolutely not. We must have visited every single shop in lower Manhattan AND Midtown and came to the conclusion that we're the pickiest losers EVER to walk this tiny island. So then ame the day of the show, 2 hours before we're supposed to meet Jamie and we go to my lovely company, A&F for the last resort skirts we liked, we bought them, met a girl named Alison who Des recognized from Skate and Surf, exchanged info, and flew back to my dorm to get ready. We did that in pretty good time after some spillage of shimmer glitter all over my room and body and ran to AE for Des to complete her outfit with blazer. it was pouring, but we ran to the subway, and met Jamie. Everyone was staring at us in our mini skirts and sandals, so we had to use Jamie's pin of the middle finger as our mascot. We arrived at Carnegie, saw that most people were dressed in sweats and hoodies, and I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs to "get the fuck out." I held back my intense strain of emotion, we got our tickets, and random fans who hate also gave us dirty looks. I don't understand it. Whatever. We got our tickets, went inside, said out hellos to everyone we knew, and watched the show.
This would be where I mention the show and how great it was because it was a "special" performance that was to include SPECIAL GUESTS, SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS, a SPECIAL PERFORMANCE, and extra goodies. We paid how much for a ticket? 50 dollars? Were there any guests? Nope, because Ben Kweller doesn't count, when he was sitting in the third tier balcony. Were there announcements or was the show semi-electric, maybe? No. I've come to the conclusion that Hanson are liars and just wanted to sell out the show. Did they sell it out? Nope...so they added another show a week later. Way to go guys, I'm so proud.
So after the show, Des, Jamie and I met with Xtina and Dorrie and hung with them for a while before making friends with Jamie (wearing a Pennyroyals shirt) and Nicole (who we knew we recognized from somewhere and later found out, from The Calling) and just talked about some fun stuff. Dorrie and Xtina left and the rest of us headed to the back to check out the deal. It was nuts, and Hanson fans will never change their hysterics. Nicole left to drive Jamie to the train station and came back. We saw he van doing a 360 up a one way and knew they were getting ready to leave. Nicole and I went to get her car, drive back to Carnegie, got Des and Jamie and waited on a corner. Nicole had never gotten a photo with them before, so she was totally into it, lol. We followed the van through red lights, stop signs, one ways, whatever, just to keep up. Kristy and her party gave their cabbie 150$ extra to keep up. That's just crazy, and I won't give anyone anymore money for Hanson for a looooong time. So we got to the hotel as they pulled up, Nicole double parked and hazzarded her car. We caught a glimpse, waited some more and Des decided to go home. Nicole and I went to McDs and later back to the hotel to chill with Amber, Alycia, Chelsea and Jess. We got a picture with Zac, and after a while I left with Stacey, a girl from NYU that recognized me. It was a weird night. Crazy.
I went home, went to work on Thursday and then on Friday I picked Des up to meet Dorrie and Stacey at the hotel for another day of wackiness in order to ensure Des' photo with Zac. Dorrie and Stace left to get illegal asian bred turtles, and then went home, while Des and I waited with Chelsea, Amber, and Tonya and Sarah from Canada. I knew them from old Moffatt things, so it was reminiscing time. Our meter was ridiculous and we had to go back every hour to feed more quarters into it. We got food, decorated some moose like Benji and Joel and waited it out, laughing to pass the time. Later on, Jess came and we got Pop-eyes and she introduced me to the Mac and Cheese there which is so yummy. Fast forwarding to later, Des and I traded shoes because she was wearing sandals and freezing. (I'm the best...lol) We found a free spot, relocated, and waited some more. Finally Ike came around, made some rude comments to which we all had something rude to say back, and I was fuming. Who likes him anyway? Ahem...that's right, nobody. Get off your fucking pedestal. Later on Tay came back, everyone was talking to him, we all got some photos, cuddling, lol, and a group shot which was very hysterical. Ike came back right before Tay went inside, so he joined us in a few shots as well. The Canadians decided to leave after this, to catch their pushed back train, and Jess went teeny as Tay and Nat came back out. It was too cute. We were all so cold and tired, who could blame anyone for being frazzled? Okay, more condensing...Zac comes back, he comes over to me and Des, starts talking, we chat, then these crazy girls wanted a pic, so we walked aside with Kate and she started talking to us. Lovely. Nice girl. Moving on...everyone gets their pics, we all decide to go. We walk past Carolin's where Chelsea is, and stop to go in with Amber and Alycia. We leave after a bit, spot the Hanson kids again, go get the car and leave. We're driving down Broadway (and I have my shoes back no, thank god) and we see Zac and Kate. Too bad out windows weren't open blasting the Wakefield. Haha. I drove Des home, and we were triumphed. Haha. Wow, that was lame. :)
So more recently, or last night was Phantom Planet on Last Call. We went, sat balcony for he first time ever, because we were late and saw lots of random Hanfans. They performed two songs, which is normal now, both new. they sounded realy great. Jessie was dancing like a madowman in the front to show her love for Jacques. Haha. Hanson were mentioned on he show, and we joked about Alex and his ex-love, Taylor Hanson. So blah, blah, blah, good show, good new drummer, bad exit, and full PP show tonight with Jessie, Des, Anna, and Nicole. Good stuff. Wednesday is sold out, but maybe I'll find a way in. If not, Pennyroyals Showcase at CBs on Thursday and possibly a show with Nicole on Friday. Craaaaazy week, and alot of tests, so I'm off to study. XXX
