"Well, I don't know about 'yelled at'," Stella teased lightly, trying to return his smile. "But definitely rebuked, at the very least."

Stella uncurled her legs, taking a moment to stretch out before she stood up. "Mind if I join you?" she asked, holding out her hand to help him stand as well. "A shower is sounding lovely right about now."

"That'd be brilliant," he said, not wanting to leave her alone quite yet. He wasn't sure why this Full was being so rough on her, but he didn't want her to sit and dwell on it.

They made their way to the bathroom with Caleb leaning on Stella. Due to his raw skin, he wasn't able to have the shower on full blast, but Stella didn't seem to mind, and it was nice being able to lean against her instead of the cold wall.

Showers with Caleb were always nice, regardless of whatever else was going on, and Stella was happy to help him get clean- again, anything that helped him to feel better was a good thing in Stella's mind.

After they got dried off, Stella slipped her nightgown back on and helped Caleb back into his boxers.

"I know we both just woke up, but I wouldn't mind a little nap," Stella suggested, helping him towards the bed. "I didn't really sleep that well, anyway." Because, of course, her mind had been filled with images of people being attacked- first Caleb, then Remus, then her parents, then Draco... so she hadn't so much slept as just tried to keep the nightmares from driving her insane.

Caleb frowned when Stella mentioned not sleeping well. That combined with the crying and some of the other things she'd mentioned finally clicked in his mind. She was still worried, and he needed her to stop.

He waited until they were both on the bed, then turned onto his side, looking at Stella. "Before we go to sleep, I need you to listen to me. On the west side of the property, there is a rabbit warren, with at least five rabbits living inside. Around two in the morning, a family of badgers passed through the back of the property. There is an owl who was hunting and managed to snag a small mouse. Stella, nothing will get near you or me here without my knowing about it long before it gets close. The wards are strong, and no other werewolf can pass through them. I can't protect the rest of the people in your life, but I can and will protect you. We are safe here, I promise." Sighing, he rubbed his tired eyes. "That being said, if you'd feel more comfortable back in town until everything has settled down, we can go back ( ... )

Stella was concerned when Caleb said he needed to speak, then was just confused for a moment as he told her about rabbits and badgers. She did understand, eventually, what he was talking about, and as reassuring as what he'd just told her was, her worries were not nearly that simple ( ... )

"He has no reason to come after me, and if he did, we'd deal with it. Or I'd Disapparate, or anything else you wanted me to do. It's not like he could turn me into more of a werewolf," he said, trying to make light of the situation. Seeing that he wasn't helping, he sighed a lay back on his pillow.

"We spent the first half of our relationship living in fear of what might happen. I don't want to go back to that," he said tiredly.

"I know, I know!" Stella cried out, more frustrated with herself than anything else. Letting out a tired sigh, Stella turned so her back was to Caleb, allowing her tears to fall without him seeing.

"I know I'm not being very rational right now, Caleb. I just want to go to sleep," Stella said tiredly, a definite tone of 'who cares' filling her voice.

What she really wanted was for Caleb to put his arms around her, bury his face against the back of her neck, and assure her that he was alright. She just didn't know how to tell him that without feeling guilty about the fact that she was supposed to be the one taking care of him today.

When Stella turned away from him, he felt a pang of guilt in his chest. Obviously he was saying all the wrong things and just making it worse. Caleb could tell she was crying again, and could only assume that was his fault. She'd been doing better until he'd opened his big mouth.

Sighing, he slid closer to Stella and wrapped an arm around her waist. "I'm sorry," he said softly, dropping his forehead against her back. "Go to sleep, love," he added, kissing her back.

Afraid to say anything else, he closed his eyes and listened to Stella breathe, planning on waiting until she was asleep before falling asleep himself.

Stella snuggled back into Caleb's embrace, laying her arm over his and squeezing his hand.

"I'm sorry," she echoed quietly, letting out a deep breath. "Really, Caleb. This wasn't what you needed today, I know."

"I'm fine love," he assured her, getting as close as he body would allow. "Just go to sleep, we'll deal with it when we're both more awake." Or not at all if he could manage to avoid the subject altogether for the rest of the weekend.

He snuggled down into the pillow, and despite his desire to stay awake, found himself falling asleep a few moments later.
