Caleb knew that Stella was still concerned, despite his reassurances that she was perfectly safe at home. The attack on Draco had made her nervous about being so isolated in their new location.
Caleb saw it completely differently.
Isolated as they were, he would know if anyone was on the property, he would smell them, sense them, before they could get anywhere near Stella. Without the confusing and often overwhelming scents of the city, he felt more in control and much more able to defend his mate if needed.
Tonight's Full was going to be different. If all went well with the change, and they were certain the Wolfsbane did its job, tonight he was going to go outside. To breathe fresh air. To run.
But he had about an hour before moon rise, and until then, he stayed with Stella, who was always anxious before he transformed.
