He took mental stock of his body, his leg throbbed, as did his wrist, but he wasn't sure where that left him. He knew that he'd heard them saying walking would be difficult. Or had he imagined that? He'd tried not to get lost in his mind. Apparently, he'd failed.
"Mother," he said hoarsely.

"Draco, I'm here."
She looked at him; his color was drastically improved from the day before, although the lines at his eyes and his mouth showed his discomfort. He didn't try to move as she put the straw to his lips.
"Can I do anything for you?"
Her voice was quiet, and the worry was etched in her features.

He sipped the water, then smiled a little. "You and father have already done something. You let me come home." He hoped she would accept it as it was meant. But he had a feeling she'd take it wrong.
"I...do love you, Mother." he offered softly.
He took another sip of the water to keep from talking more. He was only going to cause problems.

"You are a Malfoy. And you are my boy, always. No middle ground there- ever."
The tears pricked her eyes, and she reached up to wipe them, "I love you, Son."
She waited until he seemed to have his fill, and set the cup to the side. Another look at his face, and she reached for the selected potions that had been laid out with the small parchment note under them. She took the first, and said, "I think perhaps it is time for another round of treatments. There are a few. Do you feel any pain? Can you hold the bottle?"
She knew he was suffering and opened the first of several potions left by Severus that she opened, and gave him, and watched as he swallowed them. She set them to the side, and then gave him the cup, trying not to hover over him but unsure how she could help him more.
