Ron pushed in the door, listening to the small bell tinkle.  He was probably the store's first customer of the day, which suited him.  He had apparated from Charlie's to grab some different clothes from his flat, and the site of the candy store gave him an idea.   With a picture he had found at Charlie's house, he peered in the glass display cases at the different treats offered.  His eye was caught by the Wizard chess set, and he hunched down in front of if, his eyes wide.  It was so amazing as he watched the pieces move and fight each other in turn.  He looked at the Queen and the tiny stern disapproving look on her face.  He gazed at it, thinking about the only stern woman in his life who could get results with a look like that.  He wondered how upset Hermione was with him.  He could imagine the look on her face when she read his response and her irritation with him for not making things easier.  He just couldn't face her; he was afraid he would be more nervous than a long tailed cat in a rocking chair store.  He grinned at himself at the visual of that, and the cat hanging off the ceiling.  He stood up, and caught sight of Daphne Greengrass.

He had seen her at the wedding of Friday, with Draco Malfoy, and they had appeared very cozy.  Ron supposed that the kiss between his sister and Draco had been a fabrication; Draco seemed quite smitten by the pretty girl.  He didn't know too much about her, other than that she was a Slytherin and had been one of Pansy's posse members.

He moved to the counter, and waited patiently for her to finish and she noticed him.
