There was probably some kind of art form to this being drunk thing. Draco couldn't figure out what it was, of course. He was too busy staring at the intricate patterns in which Potter's hair seemed to grow, overlaying and overlapping and twisting and twining into it's usual messy mess of . . . messiness. Draco knew he was dangerously pissed when the only word that could come to mind when he thought of Potter's hair was 'wow'.
At least he wasn't quite as pissed as Potter was. After all, Draco had shown up and Potter had already been far enough along that most of the night Draco'd had to play catch up. Not that it mattered much because they were both pretty, as his mum might say in polite company, far into their cups. Or something.
Somehow, someway they ended up at Spinner's End, mostly because Draco couldn't escort Potter home and despite his own drunken state, he hadn't felt comfortable leaving Potter alone. So they'd gotten here without killing themselves in some horribly pathetic way (though Draco could still recall his heel slipping out from under him at some point and thinking that was it, he was going to die by falling on his neck) or splinching themselves. They were all in one piece. One drunk, happy piece. Or at least one drunk piece.
"We should prolly be quiet," Draco whispered, making his way toward the stairs. "In case Sev's around."
There was some part of Draco, some distant, long forgotten part, that insisted this was not a good idea. He ought to toss Potter through the floo right away, not try to sneak him into his bedroom and hide him until they were both sober enough not to do something destructively stupid. After all, Severus didn't like Potter and Potter didn't like Severus and Draco . . . Draco was confused just thinking about it.
And anyway, he figured that Severus was probably still out consorting with Weasleys. Or at least, a Weasley. So all Draco had to do was get Potter hidden and wait this whole thing out and everything would be just fine.
