Lately, Dean had developed a habit of bringing a sandwich to the office, and eating while he worked. That way, he could use his 'lunch' hour to do other things. Sometimes he had shops he needed to visit or specific errands to run, but some days he just enjoyed taking a walk. He'd left the office today with the vague idea of stopping in to see Seamus, but when he was nearly there he'd thought better of it- Dean had no doubt that Seamus would always drop anything for a chat with a friend, but Dean also knew that Seamus probably had a lot of other things that needed doing in the new pub ( ... )

Charlotte sat up in the chair when she heard the bell over the door dinging. She moved to push herself up, "Monsieur Dean, over 'ere." she said with a tired smile as she stood up.

Socrates wagged his tail in greeting to Seamus' friend. He was usually good for an ear rub or a treat. "I was just taking a little rest." she explained as she dusted her hands off on her dress.

Dean glanced over in the direction of Charlotte's voice and smiled, walking over to join her.

"Well, don't let me disturb your rest, then!" Dean said, gesturing back to the chair she had just stood up from. He noticed that Charlotte was looking a little tired- he certainly didn't want to add to that.

"I just stopped in to say hello, actually." Dean sat down on a nearby chair, reaching over to scratch Socrates on the head. "How are things going? I don't think I've seen you since the pub opened."

Charlotte didn't need to be told twice to take her seat again. Socrates' tail thumped against the carpet as he gave Dean a silly stupid smile, like oh yeah, scratch the ear. She gave him a tired smile, "T'ings 'ave been very busy. Zey are not easy, but zey are rewarding."

Busy wasn't an easy word for it, a engagement, a wedding, new business ventures all in six months. A baby on the way, but it was all happy, yet stressful at the same time. "We 'ave 'ad so much to do... ze memorial... ze baby... so much." she sighed, completely exasperated with the pace of things. She didn't say anything to Seamus though. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a hankie to rub her nose. There wasn't much she could do to feel better.

"Merlin, Charlotte, no wonder you need a rest!" Dean said, a concerned tone in his voice. He had been surprised, but happy when Seamus told him that Charlotte was going to have a baby. But it was sounding like everything that was happening was a little overwhelming.

"Charlotte, you and Seamus should both know that if you need any help at all, all you have to do is ask me. I mean, my schedule is busy, but I'm never too busy to make time for you guys." Seamus was his best mate, after all. Dean would never be too busy to help him, or his new bride.

She offered Dean a smile as Socrates just continued to seek the ear scratches. "I sent Mademoiselle Susan on an errand so I would not 'ave to go out." she said, quietly, leaning back in the chair. She pushed a hair out of her face and looked at Dean, "I do appreciate your offering, Monsieur Dean, but zere is much zat you can not do, unless zey 'ave magically found a way for ze men to carry ze babies zat I don't know about." Charlotte chuckled.

Being pregnant was tiring. It wasn't easy. It wasn't easy at all, especially without her mother to ask all the questions and get the support from. She missed her mother desperately and when she was home and Seamus was downstairs, she'd sit in the living room and just look through the books, trying to remember her face and the things she had taught to her. The warmth of her tone when she spoke about the other cultures of their world, the different people to learn from, ancient cultures. It was all warmth and spirit. Charlotte gave him a small smile, "Do you 'ave some special switching potion?"

Dean was still looking a bit concerned as he scratched Socrates behind the ears, at least until Charlotte spoke again. He threw his head back and laughed at her idea, knowing he had really brought that upon himself.

"Oh, Merlin, no. And even if I did, I'd think I'd hand it over to Seamus-" he laughed again, at the image that brought to his mind. Once he had stopped laughing, Dean looked back up at Charlotte, smiling. "Anything else, though. Really."

She chuckled at the mental image of Seamus being barefoot and pregnant. It was an amusing thought. Socrates eventually went back over to Charlotte and laid down once his ears were nice and scratched, "I am not sure you want to make zat offer, Monsieur Dean. I am liable to owl you at two in ze morning to request ice cream and pickles or some suc' obsurdity."

Speaking of, her tummy growled and she made a small face, well it had been a couple of hours since breakfast and tea and crumpets didn't tide over a pregnant woman eating for two. "Zough now zat you've gotten me t'inking about food, I am a bit 'ungry..." she admitted.

Dean laughed and shook his head when Charlotte mentioned she was hungry. He remembered when his own Mum had been pregnant with the twins, and then Neil... she'd wanted plenty of strange things, though Dean didn't ever recall pickles and ice cream. He smiled at this- a little sadly, but still, a smile. He'd been able to do this more, recently- think about his parents without feeling overwhelmed that they were no longer there.

"Well, what would you like? Should I run over to the pub and have Seamus make you something?" Dean offered. "I've already eaten lunch, but don't let me stop you if you're hungry."

She thought about it for a moment, "Zat would be very appreciative." she said with a nod, knowing she needed to eat. Seamus could take care of whatever he wanted to make her, she wasn't picky as long as it wasn't cabbage. "Mon amour will make me somet'ing." she said with a nod, "And I know zat 'e would like to see you as well, if only to talk about zose silly televeiwer things ( ... )

He smiled at her slight mistake- really, her English was amazingly good, but he noticed that she got confused every so often.

He stood up from the chair, giving Charlotte a mock-salute. "Yes ma'am. One lunch, with melon, coming right up." He laughed. "And I promise we will not spend too much time on the viewers. I know how busy Seamus is these days."

He gave Charlotte a wide smile before heading out the door to go bother his best mate about not feeding his wife enough!!
