After the wedding at Holy Cross Church, the couple greeted their guests. Susan Bones took pictures of the happy newlyweds before they returned to Finnigan’s for a sumptuous feast of fresh spring dishes served in the formally decorated
Dining Room of the Finnigan Guest House. Many toasts were offered and gratefully accepted by the bride and groom, wishing them long life, much happiness and many children. The smiling couple were well pleased by the first two and laughing or blushing at the last.
The
wedding cake was a confection of several layers encased in white and decorated with frosting wildflowers that matched many of the ones decorating the church, Finnigan’s and the bride’s bouquet.
Once the feast had ended, the groom’s parents departed from the traditional order of things to publicly offer their wedding gift to the new couple. Cian and Beven Finnigan presented Seamus and Charlotte Finnigan with an elaborately beribboned scroll, one which when opened revealed that the Kenmare Finnigan’s had gifted their son and his bride with the deed to a valuable property in Diagon Alley: a building located next to Quality Quidditch Supplies. The young couple were quite shocked by the unexpected gift, but the groom was heard to say that there would soon be a Finnigan’s in Diagon Alley.
The reception then spread into Finnigan’s Pub room, which had been reserved for dancing with music of all sorts and more snacks and drinks to be had for the asking. The Guest House dinning room was cleared to allow for more quiet conversation.
Fred and George Weasley offered a spectacle of wizarding fireworks towards the end of the evening, a surprise gift from the groom to the bride.
