Date: 15 January, 2001
Time: 9 pm
Location: Snape’s bedroom window
Characters Involved: Severus Snape, Tiberius the owl
Rating: PG if one includes the content of the parcel

A horned owl arrives at Snape’s window, imperious though patient, tapping on the frosted glass with his beak. Tied to his leg is a carefully wrapped parcel, small, square, and tied with simple green ribbon. It has been charmed to weigh less than its real mass induces for the sake of owl-travel until the journey is over; not that a superior owl like Tiberius couldn’t handle the burden.

Once unwrapped, the parcel reveals a leather-bound book, mysteriously and perhaps aptly titled Fathers and Sons.

Upon reading the book, the theme reveals stark parallels, indeed, along with narrow and necessary twists to a current and realistic relationship if the receiver reads closely. Is it an effort at reconciliation? A lesson? A foreshadowing, a warning? Perhaps all, perhaps none. The art lies in the discovery and mystery.

With the book there lies a note, anonymously written.
