Uncharacteristically Tangent

Date: Thursday, January 4
Time: Snowy morning
Location: Hogsmeade
Characters Involved: Montague Morsus and Hermione Granger
Rating: PG-13, not less.

It was a fresh early snowy morning full of light and colour. Even if it was still the harsh mistress Winter with its biting cold and monochromatic style. The streets were full of laughing children and red and green - a picture perfect moment of the after-holiday haze. Montague had been walking amidst the bright spots shooting snowballs at each other, grumbling at the children in slight irritation. What on earth had brought him there at all?

The answer was a perverted one: mental masochism. Instead of staying at the Morsus Mansion, surrounded with his beloved dark decadence and the heady smell of illegal opium; instead of luxuriating in a bed with silken sheets or devouring his voluptuous wife-- Montague chose to be here, in Hogsmeade, suffering from a light headache and too much sunlight. He did not know himself why exactly Hogsmeade and why exactly today. He'd woken up early in the morning, as always, and was struck with the same image he had been watching at the moment. Back then, the mental sight seemed amusing, especially in an odd juxtaposition with him-- dressed all in black velvet, tall, and threatening. And hungry, as he hadn't had his breakfast yet.

"Watch where you're heading, boy," he snarled at a kid in a bright-red coat and a funny striped woolen hat, who had attempted to maneuver around the strange and intriguing man, away from his playmates.

"I'm sorry, Mister," the boy mumbled out instantly, trying to back away.

"You never know if I might decide you're a good breakfast for me," Montague added with a hidden smirk, watching the boy stumble and run away with a terrified look in his eyes. "Stupid children."
