Date: November 14th
Time: Crack of Sparrows
Characters Involved: Oliver Wood, NPC Rachella Wood
Place: Wood's cottage, anywhere the flyers have been hung
It had been almost 48 hours without Winifred. Oliver knew that they -- the aurors, his friends, everyone that he saw -- were just pretending to have hope. After the first day... He had run himself completely ragged. Two days of searching for Winifred had turned up nothing. All that they said was that they did not think that it was the act of a werewolf. The ministry had yet to formally announce that, but two specalists had approched Oliver to tell him that it was their opinion that the tracks were caused by large dogs, and not werewolves.
"Well, that's something," Rachella Wood had said quietly to her son when she heard.
Oliver had tried to sleep, but couldn't. He had spent a few hours in Winifred's room, his head on her bed, and not been able to do more than close his eyes sporadically. How many hours of sleep had he gotten in the past two days? Two? Three? Four? He felt like he was dying, but didn't care. His body could die, if only there was something more he could do to save his heart from dying.
He walked into the cottage's kitchen to get a cup of coffee after a few sleepless hours and found his mother sitting on the couch in the dark.
"Mum?"
"Oh, Oliver. Did you sleep?"
"No."
"I heard from Tisha. She's flying to Africa. She said she should be able to safely apparate here from there. It'll take at least a day."
"Oh."
"There was an Auror who came by an hour ago... No word."
Oliver took a coffee mug down from the cupboard and turned to look at his mother. "Is there anyway that we can change all the posters? Add something?"
"What do you want to add?"
He had thought about this while he'd tried to sleep. It seemed like an eternity ago that he'd won Keeper of the Year. He'd put the prize money away for Winifred's future hoping that it could grow interest as she grew. It was going to be a surprise when she came of age. But -- would she ever come of age now?
"I want to offer 1,000 galleons for her safe recovery." Wini's money, for Wini back.
"I'll get right on it," Rachella said, standing.
///Twenty minutes later, all of the posters have been magically altered to show...///
