Parvati had been home all day, cleaning and cooking. She would always pretend that Padma's tidiness annoyed her but, when it came down to it, Parvati often worried about what her sister thought.

After dusting the last picture (a snapshot of the twins as small children) and putting it in its place, Parvati rushed to her tiny kitchen where several pots sat cooking on the stove. Batata vada and a delicious curry were the main course. The apartment was permeated by the strong smell of the pungent spices.

Just as Parvati finished setting the table, there was a knock. She knew it was her sister and opened the door.

"Padma!"

"Parvati!" Padma exclaimed, embracing her sister as she stepped through the door. It had been a long time since she'd last spoken to her sister face to face. Far too long, in Padma's mind.

As she pulled away from her sister, Padma glanced around the flat slowly with a gentle smile. Obviously her sister had cleaned up more than a bit, and goodness, what was that delicious aroma in the air?

"The place looks great, Parvati. And the flat smells wonderful," Padma said, turning and grinning at her sister. "You always could manage better than I could at the fancy things."

"Please," Padma said, shutting the door behind her sister after they had finished hugging. "My life isn't nearly as glamorous as this when I don't have someone to impress." She laughed and lightly nudged her sister, heading toward the kitchen to put the final touches on the meal.

The small round table in the kitchen was set with a bright orange tablecloth and brilliant yellow plates and napkins. Parvati thought the festive colors would remind her sister of home - they certainly brought back a lot of memories for her. And their mother's recipes would certainly help.

"Have a seat. There's some elderflower wine chilling in the fridge there. Have yourself a glass and relax." Parvati opened one silver pot and the pungent aroma of Indian spices teased her nostrils. Her stomach gave an involuntary growl as she stirred the curry.

"I'm actually glad you're here because I have something I want to talk to you about." Parvati's visit with Pansy yesterday was still fresh in her mind. "It's about Theo. And you."

Pulling the wine from the fridge before she sat herself down, Padma did her best not to sigh when Parvati brought up the topic of conversation. Uncorking the bottle and pouring herself and her sister a glass, she did her best to seem nonchalant as she replied, "Oh? What about it?" She couldn't bring herself to say 'us'.

"Well," Parvati said, scooping the food into serving dishes. "I... I ran into Pansy Parkinson last night." She didn't want to tell her sister that she had actually invited Pansy to the Leaky. That would make it look like she was snooping (which she was), and Padma would certainly disapprove.

Parvati set the dishes full of the steaming food on the table and sat down across from Padma, sipping her chilled wine. It felt refreshing after standing over the stove for the past few hours. Parvati served her sister some of everything and then started to fill her own plate.

The next part of the conversation had to be worded delicately. Parvati didn't want to startle Padma if this was new information.

"She and Theo are living together. Apparently."

Padma blinked slightly at her sister. She was acting like that revealing that information would cause the end of the world or some type of collasp of the space/time continuum. Sipping her wine, Padma offered her sister an amused smile, "And?"

That seriously couldn't be all that Parvati wished to talk to her about. Unless, of course, Pansy had decided to make it seem like more than it really was. Settling her glass down, Padma picked up her fork, "It all looks amazing, Parvati," She said, digging into the curry while waiting for her sister to continue with what she had to say.

"Um, thanks," Parvati said, watching her sister eat with confusion. Perhaps she already knew that Pansy and Theo were living together. Parvati knew that there was nothing between them, or so Pansy had said, but still. She was worried. Boys could easily be seduced.

"And," she said, almost exasperatedly. "And doesn't that bother you? Or are you and Theo over with?"

Parvati couldn't believe how dense her sister could be sometimes. Of course, then she remembered who she was dealing with here. Padma's number one interest had not always been the opposite sex. No, that was the other twin's department.

"And I already knew they were living together. I knew when he moved, Parvati. And no, we're not over with," Padma said, offering her sister a smile. "What in the world did Pansy tell you to get you all worked up over this?"

"Well..." Parvati sputtered, shaking her head. She took a large bite of food to give herself time to think. The spices tasted wonderful and she felt like she could be right back in her mother's kitchen.

"She told me," Parvati continued when she swallowed some of the food. "She told me they were, well..." She didn't want to say 'fucking' to her sister. It just seemed weird.

"Physically intimate," she finished. God, that sounded even more awkward.

Padma sputtered, dropping her fork before she started laughing. Laughing out loud. "Pansy? And Theo?! Theo, the boy that sputters and stammers and turns a bright red when I kiss his bloody cheek?!" She asked, covering her quickly reddening face with her hand. "Sweet Circe, Parvati, you are bloody gullible."

Parvati frowned. How in the hell was she supposed to know that Theo was afraid of girls?

"Jesus Padma, I don't know Theo. He could be a sex maniac for all I know," she said, her voice raised. She almost wanted to slap her sister for laughing at her.

"You know," she said. "This is the first boy you've actually gotten anywhere with. And as your sister, I was trying to protect your best interests."

Padma could be so infuriating.

Padma tried her best to calm her laughter, biting her inside lip as she covered her face. But the very idea was just far too amusing that it sent her into another round of giggling. Sex Maniac. Oh, dear sweet Circe.

"I know, 'Vati. I know... I'm sorry," Padma said as her urge to laugh finally started to fade. "And I love you for it. But... Oh, Merlin. I really highly doubt that anything like that is going to be an issue."

Parvati just stuffed another fork-full of food in her mouth and was immediately punished with the stinging spice of too much curry in one place. She rinsed it with a gulp of wine and wiped her mouth. Maybe Padma was finished laughing at her now and they could talk about something else.

"Anyroad," Parvati said, pouring more to drink. "How was work?"
