It should have been easier than this, to visit a friend whom you hadn't seen in ages, who very well could have been dead for all you knew. But the thought of visiting Montague Morsus, face to face, was a struggle for Perry, and it was only just this week that he’d convinced himself to go to the man’s gallery. Arcadia, or whatever it was.
Even as Perry started to approach the door he found his feet frozen to the ground. So, maybe he hadn’t convinced himself completely. Five years was a very long time. He wasn’t sure what to expect when he met Montague. He wasn’t sure what Montague was expecting of him.
Certainly not a werewolf, he thought bitterly. Their last, and only, conversation since Hogwarts had left Perry confused and just a bit paranoid. Perhaps Montague already knew? Well, Perry would not bring it up... just in case.
He squared his shoulders, carrying himself stiffly and tall. His robes were plain and dark and his hair just slightly disheveled; it had always had a mind of its own, but he’d made the effort to look clean, since this was Montague Morsus he was visiting.
...He’d already turned to head back the way he’d come before he managed to quell the impulse to run. Surely this wouldn’t be as difficult as his imagination was making it. He sighed resolutely gave the door a courtesy knock before moving his hand to open it.
