What can you do when contact with other people is prohibited in general? Stay at home, of course. Work in your so-called home office.
And when work is finished, well, you are left with leisure. That's the risky part, I suppose. But I for one am well off, I've got music to work on.
A newbie on the viol, I've started one first suite by Marin Marais. The French apparently held it self evident that viol music is supplied with fingerings. What's not as self evident is, which string the fingering applies to, as Marais wrote staff notation.
That's different in lute music. Mouton supplied most of his music with fingerings, and it is, more often than not, clear how it applies.
