well....yeah....
this morning i had to take some plants that my mom had dug up around our yard for some ladies that are in her garden club in erhardht, which is about ten minutes away, since she and dad decided to team up with the carters (mitzi and glen, mitzi was the teacher i did my internship with at ruffin middle school) and go over to charleston for the maritime festival and climb all over the big wooden boats docked there for the event. so i packed up all the plants in the car and drove over to the basketball/tennis courts there in erhardht where they were doing a clean-up event, and ended up handing the plants off to the grandmother of a guy i went to school with in elementary and sixth grade, cope. small world. i knew she lived there in erhardht and mom told me cope was still living there with her too, though i couldn't remember what she looked like at all, and honestly can't remember what cope looked like, though we were young the last time we saw each other so no doubt he doesn't look like he did anymore so i wouldn't recognize me anyway. it took her a few minutes to realize who i was. i asked her, when i parked the car and got out and walked over to her "is this where i'm supposed to drop off the plants from my mom, arlene cassedy?" and she looked at me for a minute and goes "yes...oh, are you...emma rose?" GAHHHHH. i can't get away from the name my mom put down on those forms in elementary school where you're asked "what should we call your child?" and she put down "emma rose" there for a few years. turns out cope is an english major too, though he may minor in political science. when i told her what my major was she goes "you're joking." why she thought i was i don't have a clue, but i guess it seems strange that another kid that went to school with cope would end up majoring in the same thing. *shrug*
and so i'm going to be spending my nights up in winston-salem with ali, an old friend who went to salem just for our fall term our freshman year and then transferred out to forsyth tech. she and her husband john have a house about half an hour away from campus, and apparently the offer to let me crash there with them still stands since i called her about an hour ago and asked. so yeah...so i'm going to try to drive up wednesday sometime. will probably be in w-s before 5:30, which is when she and john will be home, so i may be in your area and salemites who are still hanging around campus. get in touch, we'll see.
and yeah....
i've got a job...well, two jobs actually, that i'm preparing to apply for down here. they're both here, or, there, in walterboro, both for the same program/company actually. the program is called "the Lowcountry Area Health Education Center" and they posted listings for two job openings "Administrative Assistant" as well as "Continuing Education Program Assistant" so I'm going to get together a cover letter and fax that and my resume to the number provided on Monday. The person I'm to fax or email them to is actually, or was at least, a bookstore regular during my stint there behind the counter, so she may remember me. I asked Brian (OB, "other brian" since my dad is also brian) and he said go for it, and that diane has a pretty good memory so she may well remember me. so we'll see. i don't know anything about the pay or if there are any benefits or anything like that, but i'm assuming they're both full-time positions. the one for "continuing education program assistant" says "lowcountry area health education center has an immediate opening for a continuing eduation program assistant. applicants must have a minimum of a high school diploma (post-high school education highly desireable), be highly skilled in working with databases, MS Office, brochure design, excellent communication skills, ability to multitask and work in teams." the one for "administrative assistant" is somewhat the same "LAHEC has an immediate opening for an administrative assistant. applicants must have a minimum of a high school diploma (post-high school education highly desireable), be highly skilled in data entry and data management, MS Office, accounts collection, excellent communication skills, and abilit to multitask and work in teams. duties include reception, data entry and data management, and assisting program staff." i think i'd prefer the admin assistant one more, though i'm not sure. so we'll see....going to get together a cover letter and make sure my resume is up-to-date and email or fax it to diane on monday. or tomorrow, though i think i'll take tomorrow to fine-tune the cover letter. so yeah. cross your fingers for me guys.
anyway, i'd better get going, i've got a chaotic mess of a room i still need to tackle more of. *LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE*
