Playlists

So I've been working on this database to organize playlists and stuff. It's probably overkill, but I thought it would be a good way to get things started. The first show is this Sunday night at 9, so if you know of anyone who lives 4-5 from Hyde Park or closer, let them know. I think we're going to call it Dancing on the Green.

The library in the studio is really nifty. Lots of old LPs with Celtic stuff on it, and great new CDs, too. I got to run a half-hour of music tonight from the archives, plus one CD of the Tannies I brought. I think I covered nearly all of the Celtic bases in 4 tracks: Breton, Cape Breton, Irish, and Scottish. Didn't get over to Quebec or Galicia, so maybe another show. The guy tonight showed me how to burn CDs of the show. If anyone wants to be lended one, let me know.

Both ottery and I are trying to listen through the 11 CDs we got yesterday from Irish Days. Planxty Live 2004 is an awesome album, and I highly recommend it. The new Kornog's pretty cool, too. I also got an album with James Keane, Charlie Mulvihill, Paddy Reynolds, and Felix Dolan on it, though ottery wonders what the point that was. They're all famous Irish musicians, so them playing together seemed worth getting. And it is quite good, and I don't think it sounds too ceiliish. Sure, there's the boom-chuck piano and the widely-tuned accordion, but it stops there. :)
