Juliet went to the Dr. today, the vet I liked last fall. I called this morning to find out the vet's name and when I could bring Juliet in to see her - today is the vet's last day to see patients before her vacation, but she'll be in tomorrow morning to tell me the results of the blood test. Result of blood glucose: normal. And the Dr. said that the amount she's eating, about 1/2 cup of dry food a day, is not what a diabetic cat would eat - more like 1.5 cups a day.
She has lost weight, about 3/4 of a pound since September, and the Dr. is thinking the weight loss and increased thirst may be early kidney problems or thyroid. If thyroid, she gets pills, if kidney, she gets special kidney diet, which is available in dry form. Dr. did a blood test and they'll get the results after 9 am tomorrow, so I'll have a better idea then. But relief that it isn't diabetes!
Juliet was traumatized by a Big Dog at the vet and has gone off to hide in a patch of sun somewhere to recover. Poor kitty! She is NOT fond of vet trips and it was a big struggle to get her into the carrier today.
