Here he was, presenting you with all of this logic - all of these arguments against what you wanted to believe was true.

And a part of you - the part that listened to reason, the part that sought out the logical argument, the scientific and sensible solution - knew that he was right. That part of you knew that his evidence was crushing your own argument, your own desire to believe.

But still, you held on to it. Still, regardless of everything he presented to you, you silenced that part of you that listened to him and held on to the part that only wanted to believe.

Because if you could believe in just this one, little miracle … just this one, little, good thing …

Then you could believe in the bigger things.

And it was for that, that you couldn’t bring yourself to ever let your hold go.
